Can someone confirm that a new Hollywoods had in fact been built.

I don't know why HE is down on them but I can think of a vast amount of reasons why anyone should be, especially in Thailand.

I haven't met a bar owner yet apart from Jay (Guess) and Karl) who seriously has 'service' as a priority for it's customers.

(I haven't met you Sam or been in your bar, so this doesn't apply to you YET!)

ONLY The Guess Bar offers peanuts on the bar to every customer. This bar has never knowingly overcharged me. The girls don't get in my face and whether it is true or not I alwasy at least FEEL welcome there.

The people who own it are almost always actually there if I have a problem and they do a host of other things that they don't have to...

Play music that I bring in, put me to bed when I'm drunk (at considerable inconvenience to themselves), let me pay my tab on my next visit if I forget (It happens.)

The girls greet me NOT as a person who can be taken advantage of but as a customer.

Having said that, The Guess Bar is still a bar trying to find it's feet in the new location... It's a bit too dark inside these days and I don't like the cramped small box they have temporarily hired till they find somewhere decent.

NO other bar in Bangkok offers a genuinely welcoming experience to it's clients.

The closest we ever got before in Pattaya was Karl's... but this bar only worked when Karl was there and Lita's Bar kept insane hours for the demographic that is typically attracted to ladyboys.

Also it was a stand-up bar only. No couches and rest areas. No pool tables, no peanuts !

On the plus side it DID have a comfortable foot rail and the girls never hassled the clients. It was reasonably priced and the owner often bought drinks.

I'd probably move to Pattaya if they had a Guess Bar!

Bar owners are there for the quick take and will stoop to any level to scam as much as they can out of ANYONE (regular punter or occasional visitor) on the premise that there is a never ending supply of us idiots to take advantage of.

When I go to The Guess Bar or Lita's I could afford to let my guard down and relax... There is no other place ion the world that I can do that in to the best of my knowledge.

When The Guess Bar goes 'smoke free' in February it will be even better!
