Personal Property Insurance

With my stereo, guitars, camera equipment in my house, I get nervous sometimes I'll come home and all is gone.

I searched for personal property insurance, and the best I could get was maximum 500,000 baht coverage and no coverage if something happened outside the house, like getting my camera stolen. And a few other restrictions I've forgotten for the moment.

I checked in Canada and am able to get a good policy form there that covers any amount, in any location. So if I take my laptop and camera to Phuket, like I do all the time, and they get stolen, I'm covered.

However, it would be easier to do this in Thailand if it existed. Anyhow have any recommendations?

  Local Insurance Company for Coverage in your Home Country.  That should cover Items while You Travel (least in the USA)

Asked a friend about insurance. She told me she was able to get 1.2 million Baht coverage for personal property for her Bkk apt. Not sure about other policy details though, as she has moved away from Bkk.

I will try to see if I can get company information.

Insurance does not always work the same from one country to another, but hopefully you can find a policy that fits for you, while you are living in Bkk. One other thing my friend told me is that some of the travel agencies sell this property insurance or put you in contact with a company that does.
