Im travelling to Phuket in the next 10 days and was wondering if there was a limit to the amount of CASH i can bring with me through customs without causing problems . You seem to get better exchange rates with good hard cash (£). Also ive heard its not to hard for ferang to get a bank account in thailand , what kind of process would i need to go through , i despise paying credit card company's loads of commision , Any help would be gratefully recieved

Bring it all in cash. And then getpickpocketted! Why don't you bring travellers cheques or something a bit more secure?Back in the scene after a couple of years away. And no that does not mean I was residing at her majesty's pleasure. God it is good to be back among the girls with that bit extra!Comment

There are no legal restrictions to the amount of foreign currency you can bring in to the Kingdom.
The country you come from almost certainly DOES have limits as to how much cash you can take out.Comment

I use a Nationwide building society account free withdrawals anywhere in the world and you always get top rates when they exchange the money.
Open a secound account with them for back-up purposes incase you lose the card to the first account.Comment
