Thinking about spending a year in LOS

Simon, go to ThaiVisa Forum, visa work permit section. There is a good exchange about the Walen School and the visa.

Basicialy the 29,500baht covers the one year of school they will prepare the paper work and get your ok from the Ministry of Education. Then with this letter you have to travel to a Thai Consulate or Embassy and apply for the one year ed. visa.
After each 90 days you will then have to pay 1,900baht for another 90 day extension of stay, this is a new requirement from Immigration only for Thai Lang. students.

Simon read the whole exchange on thaiVisa the owner of the company explains a few things as well as two students who attend the classes, they both seem to like the school.

It maybe to your advantage to register for the school and have them send you the paper work and then apply for the visa before you leave your own country.

I really dont know what I'm gonna do about how long 'll stay in bkk at the moment. I'll be there xmas and will stay on through jan and feb unless some tasty contract comes along I can refuse, after that I don't know.

Errrrr, I don't think you understand.....most of the guys on this frum are 20-30 years older than you, so need the V/K to even do the one at night and one in the morning!!!

Its just as hard for others to get Visas for the USA or England. Its just this immigration policy affects US!

have they changed the Retirement Visas drastically?

If you're over 50 and have an annual income (pension) equivalent to at least 800,000 Baht or monthly income 65,000 Baht then it is possible.

Unless: you have some disease, are a convicted criminal, or on UK State Pension (too low )

A few years back I used to get a non-imm B and do a visa runs every 90 days, a day trip from Phuket (to Myanmar), half a day trip from Koh Chang (to Cambodia), a day trip from Pattaya (to Cambodia)

FFS I know the mini-buses are shite but what else do people do with their time in LOS that's so important they can't take a day trip?

I also see now that they do a 3 Year Non-Imm B, but still got 90 day rule, didn't see anywhere that states need to be out for 90 days though, but we all know Thais seem to make things up as they go along...and things change at the officers whim (maybe one day I'll tell about my work permit, which I got but didn't...)

As stated in previous posts, forget Embassies go through the Consuls, far easier and much more productive



p.s. I'm looking at spending a serious amount of time in LOS next year or two if I can get this visa shit sorted, else I'm gonna be looking at Costa Rica instead so am interested in the low-down from those out there living this day to day.

For me personal...No....,1 year Los...?No never, 2 to 4 times a year but one year permanent in LOS ....No to much ...I am European and one Year only Lb's...No not for me....I like the spice...and the variety of sexual pleasure...young ladies 18 to 24....mmmmmmhhh older experienced ladies 40 to may 55 and of course ladyboys (different style) ....for learring thai or do business in LOS.....I am to old......

You can do, me not....i do Lb's or and gg's in LOS

Nothing has really changed except for people on tourist visas or visa on arrival. A 90 day stay max. and this is important in a 180 day period.

The retirement visa hasn't changed same requirements. they were thinking about changing the rules for dependants of retirees if they were piggy backed on to a retiree visa but this has been shelved for the time beinning. And from the info I got it was more about the Chinese and Indian retirees bringing their extended families in. The Chinese are the biggest group of retirees in Thailand.
