Did You Enjoy Songkran 2010?

To my surprise, I reallly enjoyed Songkran especially the madness of today!

Now, I live outside the toursit loop and don't have much need to go inside the loop, so I had only minor spashing from the 13th-18th.

Today I was on Pattaya Tai and Beach Road and the crowd was overwhelmingly Thai and not at all meanspirited. it was sunny out so thye water felt good, even the cold water was OK and I just made believe the white paste was a special ladyboy facial.

The tilac and I went out with her friend who looks like a sorority sister and we had a good ole time.

Tonight, I'll play near my soi, if it's to cold I'll just go upsatirs and put on dry clothes.

To be honest, I could have done without SK but that doesn't mean that I do not respect it as the most important Thai festival - but it kept me indoors for almost a week

u r right about it not being meanspirited at all as long as only Thais r involved
it's their festival and they can do as they like, it just gets me a bit when others use this as an excuse to soak whoever comes along

I just hope that 2moro will be a dry day again

I've been pretty much a prisoner in my own room for a few days...Only wandering as far as TukCom and Sunee...Today I didn't try to wander that far...

I too hope tomorrow is dry, but I wouldn't bet on it...

I had a great time- stayed at home and read Gone Tomorrow. Looking down on Nanai Road it was far quieter than previous years. I imagine Bangla was the usual chaos but I wanted no part of it. It's fun with the Thais but the farang just piss me off. 25 litre buckets of water off a 4 storey balcony is just plain stupid

Fantastic. I was near the Big C North Pattaya area today. What a celebration. I tried to think about other countries and, if anything can come close? Brazil Mardi Gras? I don't know. Never experienced it. Every year I say to myself that I am going to be out of town for Songkran. Every year this never happens. About, 7 days ago, I did put on a grumpy face when, those eager falangs, soaked me near Soi 8 but, me being grumpy is not going to stop them. So, the happy Ishy face came back and stayed.

I had a great time in Pattaya. Bangkok was a little lame this year. For obvious reasons.

It's a shame there wasn't a big water fight outside the TQ on Beach Road in Patts on Friday- they could have done with the super squirters!! Unfortunately the fire didn't reach the short time room so I'm stuck (literally) with the same old mattress.  
On  a good note no one was injured in the blaze, the result of an electrical fault in the aircon system

I have fond memories of this place. Maybe the same short time room. On a tourist visit. Maybe 1991. The afternoon before I flew home, maybe 3.00 pm, I went there and, ended up having a short time. 12 hours later, just after the plane took off, I realized I had a dose! Well, I have always assumed this is where I got it. What is the usual time period before you realize you have a dose?

Casting my mind back to the 70's when Bangkok boasted a VD clinic on every corner & condoms seemed like a good idea at the start of the night but were disregarded after visiting 5 bars, I believe the incubation period for the "clap" was 2 to 3 days.

Or so I was told.

The discharge could take 5 days to appear but usually the fellas knew they had something after a couple of days. The first symptom would be a slight irritation when you took a piss.

12 hours would suggest that you didn't catch it from the girl you had the short time with.

And on another note, you should win a bravery award for having unprotected sex in the 90's. We were young & ignorant in the 70's, by the 80's & 90's, all bets were off.
