Rajawongse has a reputation - the two indian brothers Jessie and Victor made suits for George Bush Senior & Junior.
Went there myself, had 3 suits and 5 shirts made.
I cannot complain about their work.
There is a well regarded tailor INSIDE the basement of the Landmark hotel (adjacent to the Hunstman Pub) - unfortunately I cant remember the name however the general view is that many of the best tailor shops are located within the oldest 5* hotels - given there are only 3 or so tailors inside the basement should not be difficult to determine which is best - however do not expect it to be very cheap - they are realtively cheap to the west, but forget the $99 places - they are crap.
oh, and for any serious tailoring, you will need at least 3 visits there, spread on at least 6 days:
- measuring and ordering, pay about 30% to 50%
after 3 days...
- try-on
after 3 days...
- final try-on and pay the rest
I was happy with a shop i found in silom years back it is still there ,but i cannot remember the name, if interested give me a pm and i will find the name!
P.s Suit is good quality, three fittings and all that.
i'm going where the sun keeps shining.................
Rajawongse is getting my vote. Jesse and Victor have made a number of suits and shirts for me and I am quite happy with the results. Expect to pay US $ 300 for a suit and US $ 30 for a shirt, a free tie is part of the deal. Count on at least 3 to 4 days and 2 fitting sessions for the suit. A pair of pants will run you about US $ 60. Make sure you know what you want and speak up, they will accomodate you.
Narin on Sukumvit, past Nana station and on the same side as the Landmark hotel is another good one but quite a bit more expensive.
But most important, in order to make you a happy customer you need to know what you want and speak up during your fitting sessions.
