None of the above. I live in Japan.

A better quality of life, IMHO, and still allows me to pop over to LOS every few months.

(and enjoy some easy Japanese girls in between, to bide my time . . . )

(BlueBallz @ Oct. 11 2009,21:06) I would think for 99% of blokes the non stop partying and shagging would get, well, a bit boring.
      Very true sir,

And also a bit hazardous to your health. It seems to me that most mongers that live here full time settle into something a bit more like a normal relationship and let go of the boogie-oogie-oggie.

Live in Canada, wish I was in Thailand. Too young to retire and my job requires me to colaborate with my peers face to face and be on-site for supervision - no hope of doing it long distance.

So, unless I find a job in LOS, my chances of living there full time is very small.

almost 1/3rd of all the people who replied here live in Thailand full -time, that is much more than I would have expected.

next time we should say "and what do you do for work?"

Need more options in your poll - e.g. live in neighboring countries

could be true,  right now it's almost half as many do that don't and that seems high.

as I mentioned earlier on, this poll should be run in a more-visited room, we would get more replies.

With a couple of mini breaks of up to 3 months in the first year (mid Oct to 3 Dec 2004 and Feb 2005 to May 2005) I've been in Phuket since August 2004. I've been retired since Nov 2004 and 'permanent' since May 2005. Did the bar/restaurant thing for 2 years, sold up and am busier than ever doing nothing
I couldn't give a shit how long it is until you're next holiday- I live here

I know of probably 25 guys (into LB's) who live in Thailand permanently (or as permananently as Thailand will allow). Pretty much split between people with real Jobs (30%), People with jobs but under the the radar screen (20%) and 50% on retirement or marriage visas.

Among the general population at large, I'd say the number of people I can recall as acquantances working here is somewhere around 200 - full time jobs, high salaries etc.

                        Cheers

pretty funny - I notice that when I am here in the west I am bored senseless half the time and don't even know what to do wth myself; but when in Thailand there is not enough time in a day to cover all the shit I want to do, even if that includes "nothing" hahahha

                                Living in LoS.

I still have my home back in Amerika, a home that I mostly single-handedly built, nestled against the Blue Ridge Mountains ... but I never intend to live in it again. It is one of the 3 factors that allows me to live here comfortably and securely.

The 2nd factor is being able to work at a nice place that pays a decent salary, involved with education. This gets me my visa and work permit, some respectability in the Thai community and forces me to be responsible on a daily basis.

The 3rd is a very small core of truly decent, intelligent guys that I know here. These guys help provide the intellectual stimulation that one could never expect from the Thai side.
