if your talking about Apple, ive not ordered a Mac (just yet) ive been sent by a good bm called filbert, a new xp disc and everything else to restart my pc, so wont be on vista anymore.
just finding drivers for my model that are xp so will still work ?

of course, if your GF has access to a wifi hotspot, then that's all she needs for browsing ... doesn't even need a sim card , in fact. That's how I do it - I have a pre-paid DTAC sim card for phone and use wifi in apartment for online access

Yes you can - but I think its for GPRS only (when I last saw it in June 2009). They may have data SIMs with 3G access, but as stated, True's 3G coverage is probably extremely limited despite what their commercials might say. I think the data only SIM card on pre-pay runs about 300 thb per month, so its not too bad at all.

Brought my iPhone 3GS on my trip earlier and the coverage for 3G in bkk and patts is pure BS. Unless it's changed very recently, I never got a 3G signal, always egde.

As far as the plan costs, it's comparable to what I have in Canada. But I'm locked in a 3 year contract, which sucks.

Go to True store around 5pm, I know the phone is supposed to be available tomorrow, but maybe they have it already.
"Hi, is my iPhone available ?" I say to the cute girl (same cute girl as before, and still hot)
"So Sorry, we did not get any Black iPhones"
"Can I get a White One ?"
"Nope, those are all reserved. You should get yours next month" - I wasn't hearing a lot of confidence in her voice. More of the Thai 'say something until Farang leaves' philosophy.

On the way out I mutter 'Grrrrr', that at least got a chuckle out of her.

Anyone want to start a pool on when Snick actually does get an iPhone 3GS ?

Yea. 3G here is a joke. From what I hear some malls have it like Paragon, and thats about it.
Chiang Mai is supposed to have coverage since they started testing there, but I haven't been in 4 years so who cares !

Snick - Just heard from a friend of mine in Shanghai. He picked his up in Hong Kong. A real one, not a gray market that they try to sell in mainland China.

Do you have a visa run to do coming up? Maybe HK is worth a visit?

Got a call around noon that my iPhone was in stock. I thought about picking it up at the end of the day, then I realized that this is Thailand and a million things could go wrong in a few hours and decided to run over immediately.

Gotta say, they were as organized today as they were disorganized on the first day

Fortunately I brought all the correct paperwork with me, passport, receipt and a my TrueVision TV bill.

They were processing me and 3 others in an assembly line fashion, asking some questions, handing us forms to fill out,showing us a list of available numbers to choose, configuring the phone and I was done.

It was all very efficient ! (I'm still in shock)

Now, get yourself online to the iTune store and get a hold of Camera Genius app. As the name implies, it gives you more settings like zoom, anti-shake, timer and turns the whole screen as a button. A must have for the iPhone.
