Nah, you jump in the lift and head upstairs.. Not that we've been there a few times or anything

I think that maybe you go upstairs and into the building next door or something like that, so 'technically' you're not in the same establishment. Could be wrong on the next building thing but you go upstairs via the lift. Maybe the floors above are rented by another business (at least on paper)?

Either way money has got be be involved but maybe they have sought to minimise their exposure? Dunno...

My guess (guess only I don't know) is that they also have some sort of contact within the local law enforcement.

If not I would say they have done well to have operated so long (maybe 9 years) without apparently having any attention paid to them.

IMO local law enforcement contact would not be enough to fend off all the colonels of the different types of police (tourist pol, regular pol and immigration pol and I probably forget some) and the prosecutor's office, not to mention tax inspection.

no one can understand all the arrangements necessary to operate a place like the Eden Club, but certainly trickle up economics is involved.

manarak, paultain describes local law enforcement bar involvement in a few of his old days in pattaya posts.

It's mentioned in a couple of his posts about when he was running a bar in the 1980s The Paul Tain Experience. 12 pages long, so it will take a bit of time to find!

wow, I just took some time to go through some of these posts.

                I missed them earlier.

Now I've copied all the "Pattaya in the 80ies" stuff into a 44 page book!

Maybe I'll read that on the flight to LOS in july... or ask an editor to publish it!
