I gave the Asus to my brother who has probably handed it down to his daughter who has probably swapped it for a Cindy doll and so the world turns as I go internet shopping for a Cindy doll!

Hi all! I bought an asus eeePc 1000HE less then a month ago and I'm loving it. Perfect for my travels on various job sites. It's a new model released in Feb of this year.
10inch screen, WIFI n, bluetooth, 2gig ram, 160 gig hard drive, new Atom N280 processor - and best of all - 9.5 hour battery life!!! 535$ canadian for a 1 1/2kg netbook.
This is one time when holding off making a purchase paid off for me. And it will be easier to store in the safe during my trip to LOS.
Performance wise...it will never run autoCAD. But then, we all know that. It does do a good job with photoshop CS2 for basic work. But, let's not kid ourselves, with a screen size of 1024x600 and the shit loads of palettes that photoshop has - it's not ideal.
I do like the keyboard - it's 92% of a real size keyboard, so it feels about right. And the new 'chicklets' style keys make for a comfortable tool. I find the webcam to be a little dark - maybe a possible update will fix that.
As for battery life - well, that's like fuel consuption on a car. 95km/h, ambient temp at 25°C, no wind, tire inflated to perfect pressure, freshly paved roads, no passengers, no idiots on the road, etc... then, maybe, you'll get the advertised fuel rating. Same with this battery. I've managed to get 8 hours of use so far. No bad at all for me. I'll try watching a movie straight of a SD/MMC card and see how it affects the power.
I made a mistake about the computer that Batman was interested in... He wants the larger 10.1 inch screen awhilst mine is the slightly smaller 8.9 inch screen.
But as I mentioned earlier it's important to do your shopping EXACTLY... and be very specific about what you want to buy.
The larger computer in the pics here only has a three cell battery and sells for about 2,000more than the one I have...
Actually; if this price is typical then you may be better off buying in Europe!
well it may seems i rushed it a little to much.... ended up buying the 8,9" but only with an 3 cell battery... tryed looking for the 6 or 9 cell...but the diff. in price was to much...and as i want to have a Danish gurantee (2 years) i buyed it......
but will be going to pantip plaza to look for an 9 cell battery...
but thanx for all the inputs...
all the ladyboys i know laughs when we have sex.....no matter what book they read

Try to buy battery on Ebay, sometimes you can get a good deal, mine was bought there. But beware of scamers who claim to be from EU and ended up to be from HK, I had to pay VAT and customs .
