How To Get A Retirement Visa

let me try this question:

if an anonymous 50-year-old in good health and with no criminal record and sufficient funds in an american (for example) bank has the option of getting a retirement visa, an O visa or a 'non-immigrant' visa (assuming they are at least two if not three different types of visas) --*which* visa would require the least hassle for the greatest return? which is to say, get me (errr, i mean this anonymous person) in-country for the longest uninterrupted stay?

NO... You can be ANY AGE for a so called 'retirement visa'... if your wife/husband is at least 50!

If she is under 50 (or you are single or retiring alone) then YOU must be 50 or over to qualify for this type of visa.

Forgot to add- not disputing what you say Rossco, however IN PHUKET they have been insisting that the B800,000 is on deposit 3 months prior to RENEWAL as well as on initial application. They have been conducting random checks with the banks as well. They are trying to stop the process of guys , as you said, having a 'war chest' of money that they pass from person to person. Seems fair to me as they are playing the system. You CAN dip into the funds once the renewal has taken place but it has to be topped up in time (as I say, this is in PHUKET).

If memory serves there was an article in either the Pattaya Mail or Chiang Mai Mail around the beginning of Jan concerning a guy who had his visa revoked as he no longer had sufficient funds due to the drop in exchange rates. Not sure what the outcome of that one was.
