Points well taken, and I always look out for #1 first....ME!!! But with all the talk specifically about Guess Bar and how "great" it is, etc., I thought MAYBE the owner/owners took a little more time to make sure they provided "safer" people for the men that want to go there. Obviously even there the Baht is what is more important than maybe some of the reputation other than everyone seems to love the LBs there.

As for Nana, yep, I would be even less trusting of that place but just thought I'd ask.

Anyway, I'll be landing June 29th and if I can get away from my GF at some good times, I'll be dropping by Guess to check it out!!! I think I can get some time out a night or two so I am looking forward to it.

Short of educating girls there's not exactly a lot that can be done - after all, they dont wear chastity belts when the go home. I think thats why there have many humerous answers to a serious subject - many guys realise, that safety is primarily down to you - after all, what good is a test done the day before, if two hours previously she had been with a Thai guy or a farang who had for example HIV and the condom split in the heat of the moment. Thats why I think the consesus is rely on your defences and dont 'assume' anything - as basically you dont know and a piece of paper, while good at that moment in time (assuming its genuine) aint going to offer YOU any protection.

By the way, I know for a fact that girls from Guess have the ability and backing from Jay to walk out of an encounter with a guy to does not agree to wear a condom - that in itself is actually a good thing for the majority, however maybe the girl does want to go ahead - thats where it becomes uncontrollable.

Its a bit like playing Russian Roulette with ANY girl these days - always make sure your wearing a bullet proof vest when you play and your odds of survival increase dramatically.

      Cheers

I love how you guys mock Tom.  Very mature. "Most hilarious post you've read all week" ?  Amazing, really.  Exactly what was ridiculous about Tom's request?  In every single prostitute red light district I have ever been to, they have a proces in place for testing the girls.  Yet you guys act like its outlandish or unreasonable or just downright silly.  Tom is actually right, and you guys are actually wrong.  Every excuse you use to nullify Tom's logic wont fly.  In Angeles City all the girls are required to get tested once a week for HIV.  In fact they actually round up the girls in each club and they all meet down at the health clinic.  Its called checks and balances.  The girls who fail the test are not allowed to work.  The results are viewed by the bar owner, so there is no chance for the girl to lie.  To imply that testing is a pointless endeavour that is rought with loopholes is basically wrong.  In fact I was with a girl who spent the night in Angeles and she missed her weekly test at 11am.  She overslept.  She freaked out, called her boss, and arranged to go the next day. If they show up on time, its paid for by the bar owner.  If they miss it, they have to pay for it.  But either way, they have to get the test done.

Toms thread and his question are responsible and reflect a viewpoint that everyone here should share.  We are there to have fun, not to end up dead, and if you're going to waltz around pretending its not an issue, or its a silly topic, or its a waste of time to encourage testing of the girls, and especially the LB's ... in a country with one of the highest rates of HIV in the world, then your thinking is skewed.  Exactly WHY do you think thailand has the reputation of having one of the highest rates of HIV in the world?  Because a lot of people think like you guys do - and dont encourage testing.

I have had condoms break at the tip, or slip off, more than a dozen times in my life, and I do use them properly.  Peace of mind is a huge thing, and as Thailand evolves, and testing becomes easier, cheaper, and more readily available, it will become the norm.

Perhaps you should spend a little more time reading than posting...This topic has been discussed and rediscussed in many forms on the forum... everyone here is as concerned as Tom...

What guys are telling Tom here is simply TIT...This is Thailand...ain't gonna happen...and even if it does...TIT...

No has offered an excuse why it shouldn't be done...They are telling Tom that it will never be done...TIT...This is Thailand...

          Get off your soapbox mate...

Better yet...just stay in PI where apparently dreams can come true...

Better yet, maybe a bar owner should start requiring it and doing it just that way. Maybe that would start a trend with more responsible owners. Hey, at least I can wish!!!

But it is so nice to be mocked and ridiculed for a simple question. I don't care if it's been talked about many times before. I wasn't here "before". But I can take the abuse from you guys, many of which are probably a lot younger than me. It seems to be a pravailing thread in here to jump on someone who asks a question just because the weren't here "before" and should have had the ability to magically have all the old threads on any particular subject pop into their mind as they typed the words in the subject heading of their thread. Maybe the owner of the forum here can find a way to make that happen so these "uesless, repetative" threads won't happen again.

Or maybe you have to be a hallowed member of the "clic" that seems to prevail in here, that special "group" of people whose threads don't generate these kind of comments. Anyway, this is my last comment on this subject but I doubt if it is the last of many of you.

And thanks for the support PO!!

It would be nice to ask a question and not be jumped on for it regardless how all you other "regulars" feel about it or whether you have read it before. I am sure at some point in your mongering lives you have wanted to know the same answers too.

              Tom raises a legitimate concern.

I think there's tremendous value added if a bar regularly tests girls for all STDs.

Passing the test doesn't mean the girl is STD free.  It doesn't mean you don't wear a condom.

It just tilts the odds in the punter's favor.  Gives him a little edge.

Think one reason that bars don't do it is it's an extra expense for a benefit that most customers don't care about.  The reason customers don't care is that they don't believe that most bars are serious about getting honest results.

But if management is trustworthy such as Guess or 131 and if I were butterflying, I'd be willing to pay an extra 100-200 baht barfine.  And still wear a rubber for anal.

!.  I believe Road Runner and Mardhi answered your querstion adequately...

                2.  When I searched using the search function (button is upper right hand corner) I found 10 pages of topics on HIV including similar discussions...

                3.  Most of these guys, including myself, are likely not much younger than you...

                4.  I can't see any reply where you were ridiculed or abused...the guys are just having a bit of fun...that's what the forum is partly about...it happens to all of us...Just need to thicken your skin up a bit...

                5. Yes (again), it is a serious question concerning a serious topic...but none of us here are going to change or have a dramatic impact on what happens in any of the bars in LOS...

                Cheers,

why not? i believe we can change something.
having not only a HIV test but a medical screening once a year is a good thing, not only for the customer but also for the girls which sometime appears to me they are treated like cattle.
as well on my opinion should be the bar to provide the girls with condoms and to "force" them to use it every time.
with any girl from any bar i knew if i wanted i could have free condom sex and sometime i did (my mistake but im weak in the flesh).
i notice in the last years there is a complacent behavour by anyone customer, provider and pimps that wouldnt do any good to anyone.
                  just my 0.02 opinion

You could try imposing such a system but it just won't work in Thailand.    Thais do not accept responsibility for their actions.  It's just not in their nature.

As an example try complaining about customer service in Thailand and they will smile at you and do absolutely NOTHING!

Tom -  I did not wish to come across as 'jumping on you' but as Kahuna says this subject has been covered many times before.

I am afraid I have no hesitation in repeating my original post  -  WEAR A CONDOM!
(Every medical professional I have ever dealt with has said it's by far the best way to reduce the transmission of STD's - nothing else comes even close.)

Alternatively try crossing the road in Thailand without looking in absolutely every direction first!

Testing is only as good as the day it was done, and then only if you are the first customer for the girl immediately after the test.

You are far safer if you have a bar that will back up a girl's decision to refuse a customer that requests "bareback" and wants to pay extra for it.

There was a previous poll about barebacking and a significant percentage of responses were yes they went bareback.

A test result gives a false sense of security.

Perhaps it would be better for the bar to insist all customers produce a test result before they can bar fine one of the staff, and it must no more than 2 weeks old?

Any "edge" that makes the customer safer can only be for the date that test was done. Just think about the numbers, the most popular girls may have around 30-40 customers a month - so you feel safer that she may have a test result 29 days ago that said she is negative by the time you see her? What about the customer who saw her yesterday, offered 10,000 Baht for bareback and had an STD, what happens to you then?

As most members have pointed out, far better to take your own precautions.

well RR i agree with you that most of thais have a laid back personality but not all of them (i have too actually) and i agree that the test doesnt gurantee anything to the customer but its a way to keep a problem alive in the mind of the people and to control any spread of it thats for sure.
as i said i saw in the last years a sort of complacent behavour and this wont bring any good.

OK. MY last two cents even though I said I wouldn't.

Kahuna, I have no idea what the ages are of anyone else in here. I for one just turned 59 in May. It would just be nice if people answered a question. I have thick enough skin. I have seen things most of you guys never will due to my job. And I honestly don't care what people say about me because you don't know me from Adam other than what I write in here.

And you are right. Thailand is not going to change because some people want it to. But bar owners CAN change the way they do things to try to lessen the odds for everyone concerned. And believe me, I would NEVER bareback a LB or BG unless I knew for absolute certainty I had been with that person for a longggggggg time and they had been repeatedly tested and I knew they were not out screwing around, etc, etc.

And I NEVER cross the road in Thailand without making sure I am not going to end up as road kill...and even that is still risky.

So I'll be landing late June 29th, and sometime when I have time away from my Thai GF I hope to drop into Guess and check it out and maybe eat a little LB or two..or a big one...haha...and if I can swing it, I'll drop by for the July 4th event.

Just be sure to have all the test results lined up on the bar with their names in English so I can read them, ok???

All right. I was just kidding about that!!!!!

No one here is ridiculing the original post or its intentions. It would be great if it could be done with 100% certainty.
Some of us are just having fun with the topic, most are just stating the obvious:
Unless you put a testing lab in every bar, tested every girl and every client, every time, and made them wait the three to six month incubation period before proceeding........ no matter how good the intention, the piece of paper is pretty much worthless by the time the ink is dry, regardless how good it makes you feel.
I can only restate my original reply:
"But seriously.... It's hard enough trusting your life ito a little bit of latex rubber sometimes. I couldn't see trusting it to a bit of paper."
