We had a thread similar to this last year when the same issues were raised. Has it worsened noticeably since last year or is it actually the same?
(last time it was Stogie making the same complaints)

As I only go there to drink, I probably wouldn't notice the same things as TT Chang. I just hang outside and chat with the lads - am happy for the girls to leave me alone

I did always enjoy availing of their willingness to fetch me my drinks. Strangely, more often that not, it was Beer who did it. A pity if she has left (when? why?) . One of the politer, nicer and more feminine girls around

Maybe it's time Jay invested in a foot rail?

I visit too infrequent to comment, suffice to say I will be calling in, in a few weeks, wether or not I will be looking for fresh meat remains to be seen.

Sure I would all miss it if it was not there, it is unique in LOS

(TTChang @ Mar. 24 2009,15:49) The girls (with a few notable exceptions ... Tam and Jasmine particularly) seem totally disinterested in greeting the regulars. I presume because we are not often barfining we are like wallpaper to them.
That could be it in a nutshell , because you are not there to barfine you are wrote off , which really defies logic when you think about it .

If I ran a bar which customer would I prefer , the guy who comes regularly and spends several hours buying drinks with his mates , or the guy who nips in to barfine some hot chick and sail off into the sunset ?

Well the answer is both but with a strong emphasis on the regulars who spend time and money , but then I've never or am likely to run a bar .

Herein lies the problem , the girls that work in the bar want the latter customer , ie the guy who comes in with the hardon busting in his pocket and wants to grab the girl of his dreams ASAP , because they are gonna get a payday that night .

That in itself should be no excuse for forgetting the guys who just come for a drink and to meet their mates though .

I suppose I'm in the position of being known to many of the girls in the bar , but also being known as someone who is more likely than not still gonna barfine one of them , so hence I still get a fuss made over me .

As TT points out there are girls in the bar who always are attentive and always the one way , ie Beer , Moo ,Joy and Ploy to name but a few who do seem to make the effort more than others to look after the customer , some in more ways than just making sure your beer is cold
Free your mind and your ass will follow .

I was at the Guess Bar at the end of last month.  Iwas so looking forward to seeing some of the old girls at the new location.  I had been to the old location two years ago and had a fantastic time with Jenny.  So with a big ol' smile on my face I strolled up to the new location.  Some of the ladies were sitting outside and I greeted the ladies in Thai.....nothing!  No "hi" or "welcome"...NOTHING!  O.k....maybe I will get a better reaction inside.  Going inside it was more of the same.  It was like a private club with a pool table.  Only a couple of customers.  Girls were too busy  shooting pool to talk to me.  Strolled up at the bar and ordered a beer. Least the male bartender was friendly!  Did not see Jay (told she was out clubbing) so it was like the inmates were in charge.  I talked with Fah, who I met at the old location.  She was still nice and warm.  Bought her a drink and waited to shot some pool.  Of course the inmates had to finish playing their games before you let a customer get to  play.  We finally got one game in.  While shooting I had to put up with some of the divas struting around like they owned the place!  Jenny...she was a major BEE-OTCH!  Beer...major, major attitude!!! And the attitude on that little cunt called Top!  Unbelievable...parading around like she was God's gift!  Telling me that I should buy her and Jenny drinks.  I finally went outside and met a nice couple from Ireland.  We talked for awhile and then I tried again to talk to the girls outside.  Not very friendly. After getting the brushoff, I finally said enough and headed back to Nana Plaza.  Had a gread time in Cassanova's...yes Cassanova's!  I really doubt that I will go back to Guess.  There are just too many other places to get my rocks off!

Very interesting thread Mr. TT, and I will be particularly interested to hear the input of the bkk "residents"

As an occasional visitor, obviously I am less likely to witness negativity within the bar, as for the two or three nights spent there, I am always likely to barfine which maintains a certain amount of attention from the girls.

Having said that, when there last month, I did feel there was a different, almost reserved attitude within the bar,and most of the girls seemed oblivious to the fact that customers were even in the place.I wonder too is down to Jay being conspicuous through her absence?
I have always thought, that human nature dictates sometimes "if the boss doesn't care about the business, why the hell should I"

Still the best bar in bkk, IMO, however how long can it continue if it follows this trend?

Interesting thread. I did go to the original Guess and had a great evening

In January I went to the new one and was seriously underwhelmed. I did go back a second time after about 10 days, but again really not impressed with the attitude of the girls. I was thinking of going back in a couple of weeks, but having read this thread I expect I will stay in Nana...

Too bad if so . I like guess as a base of operations. I got to admit I bring in more lbs(from other bars) for drinks than I barfine but if other girls come and are nice Ill usually give good tip or lady drink. Best of luck. El Burro

BTW I do bar fine from Guess and also spend money in fact last trip I bar fined both Moo and Eye and rang the bell on more than one occassion. Oh well it is a pity but maybe Jay needs to get back to straighten things out.

(TTChang @ Mar. 24 2009,15:49) Is it because Jay has lost interest - or is spending too much time at her other business? .... leaving the 'management' of Guess Bar to Gong (and to a member of Jay's family).
What is Jay's new business interest?. Will be in BKK next week so will check out Guess for myself.

Was in Guess in Feb...like others have said, was ignored by most of the LBs who seemed to only be interested in playing pool, scowling, pouting and looking miserable.

A few though were polite and attentive, though most of those who came over merely said "you go with me?" as a replacement for small talk or some form of introduction.

Gotta say though,it was a vast improvement on the hassle and swarming that happened on a previous visit.

The times I visited, the place was full of regulars who seemed more interested in talking to each other than interacting with the crew.Maybe thats why the LBs seem unhappy...the place is morphing into a drinking den rather than first and foremost a pick-up joint a-la-NEP. The barfining seemed non-existant,and all the LBs disappeared into the ether in little clusters at closing time without customers in tow.

I'm sure it will survive though....will evolve like everything else, one day at a time.

Is that Seamus's time machine run backwards?

I have to agree that the girls seem to be showing less and less interest in the customers and spend more time playing pool recently.

On Monday night when a new customer came in - only three out of 20 went over and tried to get his attention.

From the girls side they know that most of the regular customers are not likely to bar fine them so I can understand why generally they spend little time with us.
