(geosight @ Jan. 15 2009,06:22) in all due respect this is the reason why nothing ever changes !
Those original photos were distressing though and I doubt if the relevant people were reading here .Free your mind and your ass will follow .

The pictures are distresing to our sensibilities - but the simple fact is that the Thais do not view them that way and these sort of pictures are featured in the media here.
I would like more gore to be displayed in western media - most people here, especially the young have never seen a dead person or witnessed an accident with bad burns or open bone fractures.
I think hiding the true face of death has bad consequences on western society:
- reckless behavior
- thinking "it happens only to other people"
- readiness to inflict wounds / kill
- faint-of-heart when something happens, unable to react because of shock
- most have to be "psychologically helped" after an accident or whatever
- a general disrespect for life
(... possibly there is even more)
my point of view is:
- yes it is horrible
- yes it has happened
- yes, that is how it looks, and what helpers saw
- yes, this is real and it is the reality we live in
- yes, you want to cheat yourself into forgetting
- forget about forgetting, act wisely instead.

I thought long and hard before posting those pictures.( maybe I should have explained my position earlier before posting )
I came to the conclusion that it was better to circulate them with the hope that seeing this absolute horror would force Bm's to not take these issues for granted and to pay more attention to detail, instead of chasing women all the time . I knew about this club , I was there last year and I saw the dangers (as I'm sure many others did ) especially in the larger Thai community ) . I decided to never go there again ! And many of my friends knew about my stance .
another point I'd like to make is that the one of the owners of Santana is the major share holder of one of the most popular and well known clubs in sukhumvit . Yet do you think there is any sort of protest among the Thai elite ? their noncommittal behavior just dumbfounds me and It's business as usual .These people that lost their lives needlessly go undefended and forgotten .
What really got to me was that my gf begged me to let her go there that night .I said no . And when I received these photos ,it just drove certain truths home ... Is it better to sit on our hands and do /say nothing or to help those that lost their lives by forcing these issues and getting a debate started . I don't know I thought this was a ground roots community , obviously I was wrong !
