I don't have LOS experience but I think the situation is the same the world over... if you say "how much?" and appear nervous, desperate, weak, or uncertain, you will probably get a figure that's much higher than it need be. The simple solution is to decide what you will pay, and be assertive (firm yet friendly) about this before they start throwing rates around. If you set the bar low and leave a little room for negotiation, that's fine too. For example, I will probably use figures of 1000 baht ST and 1500 baht LT as my standard. If the girl wants a bit more and I'm really attracted, fine. But if it's a situation where she wants much more than I've said I'll pay, then the best thing is to thank her and tell her maybe another day. My experience is that if the girl wants xxx and I'm trying to talk her down to x there will be NO winner even if I do get her to a rate in my range, as she'll feel pissy or devalued. And if I pay over the odds then I feel shortchanged. Best to walk away when expectations aren't in line, there's plenty more out there.

My main point again is NEVER let the girl set the price without first telling her what I'm prepared to pay her.

Thanks Kahuna, I'll bear that in mind. In re-reading all the posts on this thread, I think I also have to remember a few things:

1. We're talking about Guess Bar BKK here. Not Pattaya. The rates in BKK are higher than elsewhere and 1500 LT isn't going to get me anywhere unless I want to pick up a scary scary from in front of the Starbucks on Sukhumvit. I'll blame some of my hubris on reading too many of Billy's posts! (When I've got the experience Billy has maybe I can pull it off, but not as a newbie to the Guess Bar if I want to spend quality time with beautiful women like Top, Vivian, etc.)

2. I'm usually the first to remind others that they only go around once, so pay top dollar for your enjoyment without regret. Somehow, I've allowed my more "frugal" side to take over especially in discussions on this thread. You guys are all exactly right. Why spend big bucks on a nice suite and 3 week trip, then try to cheap out on the dates? That's the whole point of the trip after all. I just gotta remember that it's in my nature to want to feel like I'm getting a bargain, but when I get it through my head that this rule isn't needed at this time I'll be fine. It would be like flying first class to Paris and spending tons of dough on a nice hotel and then eating at McDonalds every night to save money.

I think the biggest point to remember for me is that 500 or 1000 or 1500 baht extra is a small amount to me but makes a big difference in "face" for the girls - and if they are happy, I'll be much happier in the long run.

If you want to have a good time...which I suspect you do...come to LOS with an open mind and fewer preconceived notions...

EDIT:  I can't recall exactly what notions were running through my little mind when I made my first trip here...but I can tell you that I was very excited...And that I was less concerned with what I could get away with paying the girls then I was with having a great and memorable holiday...Pay them what the deserve to earn for fucking and sleeping with someone they don't know and likely don't much care to know...and you too can have a memorable holiday...

As far as Bangkok is concerned, there is only one bar everybody seems to be fascinated with and that's the Guess. My advice for any newbies is to get their asses down to Pattaya. Apart from the usual LB bars mentioned, there are hundreds of beer bars with 1-3 LB's working there. Sit down at any beer bar the chances are you will be staring one right in the face. Make your own mind up, and avoid any bad advice from punters who cant get it cheaper than you.

Thanks for all the advice on this thread, sure made good reading. After lurking on here for 1 day i finally make my first post!! (well tbf the 69billy thread kept me occupied for LT )

Anyway I have never gone to thailand before but i have had a few LB experiences in Amsterdam and here in Scotland. I plan on going to Thailand later this year and after reading the many posts my 2 weeks will be spent 3/4 days in BKK then down to pattaya then back up to BKK before going home. Like some i will be on a budget but the hotels and eateries i dont intend to pay anymore than i have to. When it comes to the LB in thailand i will be looking for mostly LT. In Amsterdam u pay at least £50 (2500 baht) for a ShitTime in my experiences and here in scotland the girls who tour charge at least £120 per hour (45 mins). Now 1500 baht i reckon is about £30 so to get an overnight out of it is an absolute bargain and if she is a honey then surely there is nothing stopping paying 2000/2500 baht?? still a much better time than i would get anywhere else i plan on going and a possible travel companion to show me the sites the next day. I dont want to come across as a person that will be ripped off and indeed one that will get accused of setting prices high but this will be a holiday i will have been looking forward to for a couple of years since i found my LB attraction and i aint going to blow it over the heads of £10.
BTW any other travel hints would be appreciated, the girls of Guess look so damn fine. What does one do about a phone over there, buy one upon arrival or a SIM for ure own one or just use ure own one. I will search the forum but if anyone has any tips to give would be very much appreciated.
