Sounds like there's a certain amount of "bar setting" or "market making" going on here. From all I've heard and read the rate of 1500 LT is very very acceptable to most. If some of the girls don't want to accept that of course that's completely their call, but I know for a fact that I'll be able to find another of equal or greater talent, looks and personality in a matter of moments. The reality is that this is the going rate, not 2000 or more unless you're adamant about spending time with one of the "superstars" (who sometimes don't live up to the hype).

Mr. Deepthroat...I think you are gonna be very surprised at what you find...I am far from an expert on pricing, but I can tell you this...I'm just going home after spending two months in LOS...which I do about 4 times a year...When I am in BKK, which is most of the time, I'm in Guess Bar almost every evening...I know the girls...I buy them drinks and chat with them...I can tell you what they say about guys like you...I watch guys leave the bar and the girls laugh and joke about them while they scurry across the parking lot on their way to cheaper pastures...and when I ask them what's so funny...they reply, "Cheap man." And I have a feeling that those are the nicer words...

Once they know you and what you offer, they won't get off the bar stool or couch when they see you...And after you make your offer to one girl, they well all know...It's a business and they talk...

EDIT:  I can't recall exactly what notions were running through my little mind when I made my first trip here...but I can tell you that I was very excited...And that I was less concerned with what I could get away with paying the girls then I was with having a great and memorable holiday...Pay them what the deserve to earn for fucking and sleeping with someone they don't know and likely don't much care to know...and you too can have a memorable holiday...

I was just in Patts/BKK with a group of fun loving people, including one guy who'd never been to LOS before. Well, he had been once, on business, but hadn't done a full-on mongers holiday.

He's a nice enough guy and you wouldn't say he was tight with money - he'd always buy his round of drinks and offer to pay taxis etc - but he seemed obsessed with bar fines and what the girls charged. He had to have the whole bar fine procedure explained to him, which was fair enough as a newbie, but he obviously didn't go along with it and for some reason wanted to 'beat the system'.

Late one night, he and I were pretty much on the verge of heading home when we stopped for a 'last beer' in a bar on the corner of Soi 8 and Beach Road. They were about to close but stayed open as a couple of punters (us) had walked in. We ended up having a blast, got through several rounds of tequilas and B52s, did a lot of the usual flirting and fooling around. Just another fun night in Pattaya.  I really liked the cashier and he liked one of the hostesses (these were GGs by the way), so we arranged to take them out on a "date" the next night.

They both liked steak and chips and wanted to be taken to the Pig and Whistle on Soi 8 (the food there is rubbish, by the way, absolutely not recommended, don't bother). Things were going along OK but then he raised the subject of money - bar fines, how long, etc. etc. It went on for the best part of an hour, and became quite adversarial. I felt - and I frankly told him this later - that he'd dragged the cashier girl down to his level. She'd started out dressed up all sexy and ready to have a fun time and ended up bickering with him every bit as hard as he was. Eventually I got up, paid my share of the bin and walked. Needless to say, he went home shagless that night.

He pulled the same stunt a few times on that trip and it never did him any good. The funniest was when we were all staying at the DIG in BKK. The rest of us were sitting out late on the terrace having a nightcap and a laugh when he turned up, absolutely legless, with a really good looking GG who was so pissed she could barely stand up.    

The next day he told us the story. He'd seen her in a bar called Bully's on Sukhumvit (don't know it myself), decided quite rightly that she was gorgeous, and got talking to her. Predictably early in the conversation, he asked her how much she charged. He wasn't keen on the prices she quoted and reckoned that if he kept her in the bar long enough, then took her home, her price would be lower. So he'd spent fuck knows how much on drinks for them both for several hours, then when they finally got back to the hotel, he was too pissed to perform. At least he was honest enough to tell the whole story. But unsurprisingly, she didn't give him any discount for equipment failure.

Just a story. But I think the moral is, obviously, don't get ripped off but do pay the girls what's right.

By the way, earlier that night the rest of us had been in Guess Bar, and I chatted to Vivian for a while. I was tired and satiated from some earlier activities, so I didn't take her out. But guys, the prices she hints at in her posts on this thread are more than fair. She is absolutely sensational!

There is voluntary two tier pricing going on here. Don't lose sight of the fact that often Thai's pay 500 baht ST and there is no barfine. Many farangs want to pay more and need to justify it to themselves that everyone should be paying x baht where x is some arbitrary number they made up. Many farangs pay $100USD+ for a little ST when you add all the costs in and are angered at those who don't think up a price as high as they do. Very interesting economics going on here. You can see the same voluntary two tier pricing in the taxi's. Go to any tourist spot and the driver will immediately ask the foreigner for multiple times over the market rate. Why? Simple, because there are lot of farangs more than willing to go along with it.

Don't assume all the girls (or taxi drivers) think any less of those who pay less. They just as well may refer to them as "experienced" or "knowing" and those who spend too much as the opposite or "not clever". I have heard them laugh over the guy who paid way too much, then fell for the need money for taxi bit and similar stories so you never know.

Plenty I encounter in the gogo's are good with 1K/2K ST/LT which is my fixed pricing which I think is more than generous and they are eager to go again and again. Funny thing is, this is less than I used to pay when I was new and that was many years ago! I feel that everyone is free to spend as much as they wish and haven't noticed high spenders spoiling it for the rest.

I got to say thanks to everyone   .  I am finally planning my first trip to Bangkok and the advice given here has been outstanding.  

Just one question, is getting around Nana Plaza easy, is it far from the the tourist hotels ?  I really want to see Bangkok during the daytime also , do any of the "girls" play tour guide too ?

Depends where you are tscrazy. Lots of threads here about hotels, and a main one of choice is Dynasty Inn Grande. Thats 2 minutes walk to both Nana Plaza and Guess Bar on the way. Its cheap and cheerful; if you want more upmarket there are plenty close by.

Nana Plaza is in the Sukhumvit area, and lots of other hotels there. If you choose to stay in other areas like by the river or nearer to Patpong its not a massive trip by taxi, just a pain in the arse if you're drunk!

Daytime trips are easy, find out more when you arrive, but nothing is complicated. Plenty of sites out there with tourist info in them for you.

The girls will often play tour guide if they like you and you pay (even if they dont ask you should compensate them for their time)
