First time in Guess

I find its easier to put the cash in the bag afterwards, I can't stand "up to you". In Patts I normally 1-1.5k LT.

Vito can answer for himself, but my guess is that if 1500 baht was the agreed upon rate, then he should feel good. Then when he comes back to the bar the next night, the girl (if he treated he OK) will jump into Vito's arms and want him to barfine her again!

Ahh, here is where it gets touchy.  There are two factors that you two should be in agreement on.  Terms and price. (terms means how long will she stay, and what will you be doing to her - or her doing to you).  If the girl says "up to you", then what does that mean? You can keep her for 2 days and then give her 10 baht?  Of course not.

To me, a good reply to her saying "up to you" after you ask "how much?" is "I will give you ___ baht, is that OK for you?". You are forcing her to say yes, no or change the price.  

Once you get price and terms out of the way, it never needs to be mentioned again, and you (and especially her) can rest easier.

I almost never ask "how much?". I tell them "how much."

There was a guy who posted earlier that he gave a LB a higher than market rate, and she wanted an extra 500 above that!  This is because he did not state what he was paying before leaving the bar, so she was trying to take advantage.  BGs (GGs and LBs) can easily play this game with guys who don't state what they are paying, I hear it ALL the time from friends!  When they start telling them what they will be getting,a nd you tell them this BEFORE PAYING THE BARFINE, you will eliminate a lot of drama.

You are right on! I would never leave any bar without agreeing on the price. I feel fine therefore in the morning when I lay 1500 on her pocketbook and then hand her another 100 for a taxi. When I go back in the bar my biggest problem is getting the last one to leave me alone so I can try another. Also, I never negotiate. I bring up money before they do after they hit me with the standard - "I want to go with you". I then say, "I pay 1500 for a Long Time--until morning. Is that allright with you"? If she tries to negotiate, I smile pleasantly and tell her that is what I pay. Never a turndown for LT and did have one turndown for 1000 for ST. Her friend came over and I left with her instead. Living here, I know what 1500 is worth to a Thai. It is a lot of money for one nights work in the local economy. Don't let them jack up the pricing on you.

just shot time is enough for that price even very goodman and have fun together

i neverthink about i'm popular or not and nevertihnk about i must popular just think about ok i work and sometime have fun in my work to work is work but sometime when meet good guys then to be friends i think that fine....

Ref post #20- I forgot to quote it but 'Up to you'   I know prices are higher in Bangkok than Patts or Phuket. Personally I have never discussed payments until the next day but that's just me and I've never had a problem. If someone has asked for more than the going rate I will re-assess based on performance. SUre you get the occasional strop but Son Nam Na

I just know that personally I don't feel right, horrible in fact, when I try to low-ball someone who is about to give themselves to me intimately.

In English and Thai GGs and LBs refer to us as customers. *To them there is nothing intimate about it. *It is a commercial transaction. Intimacy has both a psychological as well as a physical part. *I would suggest that it also requires 2 parties involved otherwise we are back to a commercial transaction with one party trying to make it more than that. *

Farangbah, nobidy said anything about lowballing anyone. *When I tell them that I pay 1500 LT, that is my price. *I sure don't negotiate. *Look at 1500 Baht and see what it buys a Thai. How about 1/2 a months rent. *30 to 50 meals. *5 RT bus fares home. *A lot of clothes at the Thai market. *10 days pay for a laborer. *A weeks pay for a maid at a good hotel. *Stop thinking in Western money and prices.

I have little doubt the ST rate for a Thai 'upcountry' is still 500 Baht - or about 3 days pay for the average Joe - or Pornsak.
