Of course not. But it is a classic example of the kind of short-term, let-the-future-take-care-of-itself thinking for which Thais are famed. It's exactly the kind of approach to the world that made Thailand the international basket case that it is today.......
So, you are saying it's OK to lose money?.....
....that is even more short-term that making a profit Â
No, of course not. And, frankly, for you even to think that I might be saying something that ridiculous strikes me as considerably less than intelligent. You'd probably fit right into the Thai way of doing business.
For the record, what I was saying was this.....
Thais almost universally have a short-term mentality about business, i.e. how can I extract the maximum amount of money from this guy here in front of me right now and give him the absolute minimum in exchange for it. On the whole, Western business has a longer focus, i.e. how can I make this guy in front of me right now feel he is getting more than his money's worth and therefore make of him a long-time customer who will come back here and spend money over and over.
The Thai short-term, no-tomorrow mentality also extends to nearly everything else about them as well, but I really haven't the heart to get started on that, too.

You'd be preaching to the choir and the converted if you did!
i liked the old guess bar because it was big but mostly because the beautifull atmoshere there, and also no pool tables.I also like the new place because of the more beautifull lbs and i know that one day everybody will like it.The only problem there its not the music, the
lighting, nor how small it is the place, what i think its the
pool tables...they put them there too early.Maybe a little bit later, when the place its bigger...
Anyway i love the place and i will always support it,and
i will always go there.
Too many girls in fact. I was in Guess 2 times during my last trip. Both times, I enjoyed the attention of 2-3 girls. It's incredible. They were not hustling for drinks but they were certainly vieing for my attention, with generous strokes on my groin.
There were easily 5 girls I don't remember even though I was there not more than 2 months ago.
And I was actually forced upon by a couple to kiss them. Come on guys, help out a stud here when he gets mobbed.
Always yield to temptation, it may not pass your way again.
Haven't been to the new bar yet so will reserve my judgement for now but I don't know what people are on about being hastled by the girls in Guess? Of any bar in the Nana area it is by far the most low pressure.
I drink in there usually every night I'm in Thailand. Sure the girls come up to say hello, but that's their job. Give em a smile tell them your just there for a drink tonight, by them a drink (not complsory but you don't want to seem a cheap charlie) and they will leave you alone. I've never had a problem with any of them and have been with most of the origonal line up. If you can find a more soft sell bar LB in Nana please share as I for one don't know any.
Looking forward to catching up with the bar flies again around early May.
Hi guys I will have to say I like the new guess bar more for some of the same reasons others have said they dont
#1I was there around new years and saw some old friends and made some new ones..This is the best part a few familiar faces in this "hobby " goes a long way in my book.
#2LOcation location location that last place was a bogus trek for the hourly checks on the nana hotspots which are by their nature unedurable for more than 1-2 drinks.
#3 Music was GREAT I didnt like every song but I like a deviation from top 40 bullshit and rap and it was nicely eclectic 80s era ect
#4
Lighting idont give a shit about
#5 i USED THIS AS A RECHARGE place between bagblows and mostly came in with other ladyboys.
#6 I never got hassled or hustled by any of the ladies there and one was very nice to translate for me I fined one girl out of there who was terrific Dave/elburro
I visited the Guess Bar last Saturday night. This was my first time there & I was keen to see what all the hype was about.
I have to say that I enjoyed myself. The bar isn't big but I played a few games of pool and ended up taking Jenny back to my room for some fun. All round it was a good experience. Much better then sitting in Cascades or Obsessions and getting treated like a ATM at a meat market.
I'd recommened Guess to any LB lovers who vist BKK.
