Pub Street, Linga Bar and Zanzybar in Siem Reap

Something's definitely up with the ladyboy circuit in Phnom Penh. The usual haunts either have zero or very few ladyboys. I sure hope it's a seasonal glitch or some other temporary reason, and not representative of the present scene.

Street 136
Up Town Bar no longer has ladyboys. Even the ubiquitous After Dark guidebook for PP nightlife sez ladyboys have been cleared from here. Haven't chilled in Candy Bar yet but I never see any ladyboys whenever I pass it.

Street 104
Been to Claudia Bar twice. Saw three ladyboys the first time and only one the second. Baraza Bar had zero ladyboys when I went there tonight.

Heart Of Darkness
Went there twice and stayed for many hours each time, including a Saturday sortie where it was packed. Spotted a cumulative total of five ladyboys for both visits.

Classic Entertainment
Still has cabaret shows with purty ladyboys. Woot. I was the only non-local when I visited. Hard venue to find and not all tuk-tuk drivers know it. Hopped on a motodop and the driver claimed that he knew "Classic, with ladyboys". He dropped me off at a gas station. I looked up and it was "Caltex". Wackness. He took me to three more wrong venues before I gave up. Found Classic the following night with a savvier motodop driver. Classic is absolutely worth checking out.

Wat Phnom area
Found a streetwalker scene near Wat Phnom tonight. Definitely for the adventurous only. Was cornered in a dimly lit street by a gang of femboys, some of whom look less than wholesome.  Everyone latched onto me like white on rice. Especially a scary femidget who was grabbing me tightly and groping hard. The biatch tried to lift my wallet. My senses were on overdrive and I backed away immediately. Double-checked my belongings and everything was in order. Used a femboy as a shield, occassionally flirting with her. She was rewarded with a stroll back to the room. Even then her buddies were tailing us on foot and bike. Had to threaten to call off my dalliance a few times, and she ordered her minions to back the fook off.

You must have ran into the same group that I did at Wat Phnom. What you say about lack of LB's around town is correct. I was there last summer and the only place that yielded any action was Wat Phnom. It is a very sketchy area. You described the dimly lit area correctly. It is a long park with some light but areas of very dim light. Not for the faint of hearted.

I was accosted by a group of 3 or 4 LB's same as you. They groped and made all kinds of motions to get me aroused. I was alert to their pick pocket methods but unfortunately, I did lose my Cell phone to them. Damnit! They are good!

I left the wallet at the hotel knowing I was gong into this area and thank goodness I did.
I am not one to get pick-pocketed and I was prepared. But they pulled it off.
It was a disposable phone with a locally bought SIM card so I didnt really care. But WTF! They beat me at my own game.

Lesson to all: Dont go to Wat Phnom unless you are prepared for what FF described. It is exactly correct. And his Siem Reap exprience is right on. You are much better off in Siem Reap and no need to go to Phnom Penh. It is the arm pit of Cambodia.

From my memory it has always been a place to keep your wits about you... some very desperate people around.

I did have a fun night at Sharkys bar with a GG... Is this place still open I wonder?

There were some decent cheap massage shops around the place too.
The walk along the river was pleasant enough

I visited the most questionable brothel operation i have ever stepped foot into there... some of the ladies looked young

All in all... not a place I'd be rushing back to.

Siem Reap... loved it... except for the bloody ANZ Royal banking signs.... fuck i hated that and i was employed by them here in Oz.

Your pics of Angkor Wat has inspired me to put it on my bucket list.

I was in PP early last year for a short period. The most LB's I saw in one place was Candy Bar with about 5. They also seemed to congregate in and around Heart of Darkness after the 2am closing of most of the other bars.

Candy Bar and Updown Bar were the two that had LBs when I was there last (March 2009). Two bad it's gone downhill, or maybe you've just had bad luck.

There is a great GG FLer scene in PP at Martini's. And Heart of Darkness later. And where there are GGs, there might be LBs in the shadows.

I'm going to make another visit to Cambodia in April/May timeframe, perhaps I should go to Siam Reap instead. Never been there.

Good post. Can't help but smile knowingly while reading it. When I see the sketchy streetwalkers, I make obvious motions with my hand and cover my pockets. They usually don't try and steal from someone who knows their intentions. Doesn't always stop them though. Went to Wat Phnom again last night at about 12:30am. Not a ladyboy soul in sight. Walked around Wat Phnom, traversed the park across Sunway Hotel and peeked at the connecting streets. Nothing. Seems to be very hit and miss. PP is the armpit of Cambodia? You're being too kind. More like one of the skin folds in a puckered sphincter.

Yeah, Sharky's is still around. One of PP's longest running bars. True that ... the walk along the river is something I enjoy too. Good breezes and a welcome respite from the crazy traffic and annoying tuk-tuk drivers.

Finally visited Candy Bar. Most of the staff are girls but I spotted three ladyboys working there. Up Town Bar still doesn't have ladyboys as management got rid of them.

Street 104 update
Baraza Bar has zero ladyboys. Claudia Bar has three, Rose Bar has two and Top Ten Bar has just one but she's mad cute.

There's probably the isolated ladyboy dispersed among other GG bars but I didn't bother searching further. Seems like a waste of time to have to deal with bars, barfines, lady drinks and attentive GGs just for a ladyboy or two or three. The streetwalker scene around Wat Phnom has the most ladyboys. About five to ten of them but only if they happen to be around. Just be careful in that somewhat dodgy area. Classic is a good place to get some cabaret ass. On weekends other ladyboys turn up to cheer on their performing homies. So you'll see a good number of cuties in addition to the cabaret crew. The cabaret girls leave work at about 2am, so don't go there too early. They just can't ditch their performances and accompany some drooling perv. No barfine. You'll probably be the only foreigner there and the girls don't expect to be picked up. So you'll have to make the first move, and they're usually pleasantly surprised with your indecent proposal. Makes them feel loved.

Sounds about like a night i spent in Luang Prabang in Laos... spent good part of an hour with a useless tuk-tuk drvier roaming the streets.... waste of time...
