donnnny, don't know much about macs, but try a systematic approach. Try to determine if any other program is using the cam - you've already found Ichat and closed it, see if there are any more. If that doesn't work, then try removing the webcam as a device from your system setup (I'm guessing Macs have something like this), and then have the system re-detect and set it up again.
I think there are a couple of other BMs who use Mac, hopefully they can chip in with more advice. (Hey Stewart!)
