I don't use a phone too much but if I did (and Android 2.2 was on it) my #1 choice would have been the Galaxy S. I played with it in the shop and loved it.
Now the choice is moot as my new iTab (when it arrives) will replace both my phone and my netbook.
(Christmas is coming earlier this year for my brother who gets all the stuff I dump when I upgrade!)
There is a truck load of Galaxy stuff on Engadget today if anyone cares

It seems that though just about everybody's getting the Samsung Galaxy Tab, few know how much it costs, but Australian customers can expect to pay AUD $999 if they're buying off-contract. Several Australian media organizations are reporting that's what the seven-inch, 16GB Android 2.2 tablet will cost, when it arrives at the country's three major phone carriers for a slated November release. Smarthouse points out that the price reveal surprised Australian executives as a comparable iPad 3G 16GB costs just $799, though a Samsung VP told the publication, "we believe this is a fair price." We'll just let the market decide on that one, okay?

Looks better and better, 50% more expensive than iPad, 50% smaller screen, 70% of battery life, and an OS that even Google says you shouldn't use for tablets.

Plays 7 hours of HD videos... Just about right for Melbourne to los
as for price, everthing is so expensive here in oz as companies take advantage of the solid Aussie economy & rip off consumer and shift profits offshore.
Ipad costs 1000 here snick not 500 like in us & given that aud/us is .95 something a little odd
Most aussies are ignorant - I've been shipping to OZ using access USA from the US and some camera equipment from Hong Kong.
Saved a lot of money~~
Funny how many big music acts come to OZ these days as well.... fooking tickets are expensive and the conversion back to USD works rather well for them
