And don't get me started on malls in SE Asia. Or room mates from the middle east. Brrrrr!

And hotels that have centrally controlled ACs. WTF! Have experienced that one time. No good.

The Thai heat/humidity alternated with the dry AC inside hotels used to get me every time. I liked it real frosty in my room.

Then Nurse Jenny taught me to raise the thermostat setting (as someone already suggested). This works for me (still have my tonsils).

I like the tips about cleaning the air filters. That's gonna be on all my future travel checklists. 

But don't forget, if you're in BKK the air pollution outside can also be brutal. Stay in the bars as much as possible and you should be fine.

I have to go with Driftwood on this, the alternating between cool AC in the room and hot weather outside can do it for sure. As mentioned the AC filters have always been filthy when I checked them. Taking a shower and then laying under a ceiling fan will do it too. I got a bad cold with chills in 30 minutes of doing this in Cebu once in humid 95 degree weather.

Riding a MC will do it as well, I have found this out the hard way. The dust kicked up by traffic on the road is full of bacteria and you breathe it and then get a sinus or lung infection. I now wear a bandana over my nose and mouth, it has helped. Who knows, I may start a fad.

I have kissed LB's and GG's only to have them tell me shortly after that they have a sore throat and are taking meds for it. That also includes shortly after getting a blow job. Now I check them out over a drink and then ask if they have a sore throat (jep kaw) before I BF them.

A couple of years ago I read in the Pattaya Mail that the mayor was shocked to find out that 20% of the tap water was untreated and came directly from the reservior. Shortly after that I watched a FOX News report regarding a number of people getting ill in Florida from the bacteria in tap water that becomes atomized in the shower spray and you breathe it in and get infected. I got slightly depressed. I don't have an answer for this but I suppose it is good to be aware of the problem.

But if I had to guess the number one way people get sore throats in Thailand it's from drinking from dirty glasses in bars and street stalls. Everything is washed in cold water in bars and in a basin of cold water at street stalls, so if the last person using the glass was sick you will be exposed. You may not get sick but you will be exposed. In banks and offices the staff drink from the same aluminum cup, it always sits on top of the water dispenser. For this reason alone, I now rarely eat at stree food stalls and go to food courts in malls. I am hoping they clean the plates and flatware better, possibly even with hot water.

By the way, this can happen in any bar since glasses are normally "washed" in a couple of sinks full of soap and then air dried. I got a sore throat at a comedy bar in Los Angeles twice in 2 visits. Obviously they had some sort of infection in the sink and it wasn't being cleaned properly.

My experience has been that everyone in Thailand is sick frequently, both Thai and farang. Upper and lower respiratory infections and diarrhea seem the most common. I have seen sore throats go through everyone I know in Pattaya over the course of a month, myself included.

I made it home from my last trip to LOS and i was not sick

Now i did make one change to normal and i suspected this may have been the cause of all my issues.

Usually i jump on the plane with a smile but exhausted from all the late night and antics in LOS.

IMHO .. you are ripe to catch something that floats around inside the plane.. you are surrounded by 300 other fuckers - it's a germ fest!

neways... i bought a face mask for 20 baht in Phuket before my trip home and decided i was happy to look like a git for 8 hours with 300 people i cared zilch for.

The result - felt great when i arrived home and avoided being sick for the 1st time in many trips and smack in the middle of the swine flu outbreak.

The good news if

YESS i finally made it to Thailand.

The bad news,i have exactly the same problem,fluish and trouble with my throat.

I guess it was either the 19th year old cutie i fucked in JKT or it where the cocks of my beautifull tgirls from from Jakarta (screwed up in the pic department though boys sorry going to redeem myself here in Thailand and when i get back to Indonesia)

Anyways ordered roomservice,a lot of tea,healty juice and going to sleep in really extremely tomorrow.

Then hitting the gym,the sauna for some sweating and i think i do all the girls really a favour and go for major spa treatment (and not the one with the special oil treatment lol)

Stocked up on the antiflu and aspirine so hopefully will not spoil the fun to much (damm still her till the 4th of august but do not want to waste any time at all lol)
