God botherers.... fuck I hate 'em. I've been doing a bit of research on Tsunamis for reasons both personal and occupational that has involved searches of various websites. IN nearly every instance where there is a video posted of the Japanese/ Indian ocean tsunamis the majority of comments below the video are from fucking religious nutcases with axes to grind. The comments range from apocalyptic (god is angry and is going to smite us all) to pointedly nasty (God smited the Japanese/Thais/Sri Lankans/Indonesians for being well, not WASPS)
Also enviro-activists: Gaia is angry and is going to smite us all. Note to apparently educated bunny huggers: Mother Nature is not actually animate, and is not a blue haired loving grandma.  

It amazes me that people can be so callous in the face of such suffering, using catastrophe as a points scoring exercise for thier particular brand of brain-washing. And, it ain't just poor white trash either, the Malaysians also snuck in a few low shots pointing out that the Japs aren't muslims.

To the Christians who think god is on their side I wish to point out Hurricane Katrina and the appaling lack of christian ethics, emapathy and compassion that followed in the aftermath.

To the Mussies I would like to point out how often Pakistan, Turkey etc have been decimated recently by earthquakes and floods.

God (if there is one) smites apparently without favour.

One of these true believers came on the subway car I was in tonight & started loudly warning of the imminent apocalypse. I suspect in some communities May 20 & the afternoon of the 21st should prove plenty entertaining... in a depressing sort of way.

I am considering an "End of the World" party on the 21st of May. It is a Saturday, so that's convenient. Think I'll invite a few friends over, fire up the grill, bust out the guitars and the herb and have a few laughs.

So being the devil's advocate... I would go to services there and demand the pastor/guru/charlatan immediately sell all his possesions and the church etc etc as he wont be needing them.
