What about Mrs Bachman of the Tea Party.. there was a big thing about her on Eurochannel lasy night and she seems to be in front of Palin by a notch. ( According to Bachman anyway)

Shes pretty but maybe a bit stupid and thats ok by me.

Actually the Tea Party thing is catching on in Europe and it will soon have clones. People are angry

      (BlueBallz @ Nov. 18 2010,06:02) Charlie Rangel
WASHINGTON €” The House ethics committee on Thursday recommended that Representative Charles B. Rangel be formally censured for ethical misconduct, the most serious punishment the House can mete out to a member short of expulsion.

Mr. Rangel struggled to compose himself as he pleaded for mercy from the panel.

"I don't know how much longer I have to live," said Mr. Rangel, 80, his eyes watery and his voice quivering. But, he said, whatever time he has, he will spend it trying "to help people and thank God for what he's given to me."

If, as expected, censure is approved, Mr. Rangel will be the first member to receive such punishment since 1983, when two congressmen were rebuked for sexual misconduct with House pages. Mr. Rangel would be required to stand in the well of the House while the speaker reads a resolution rebuking him.

(deepthroat @ Nov. 19 2010,01:54) Love the Mr. Smith Goes To Washington reference. I've harbored a fantasy of that actually becoming a reality for years now, and thought maybe Obama would be our Mr. Smith. I still think he'd like to be, but I believe he's run into the wall where his convictions and actions aren't the equal to the entrenched corruption and he's unable (don't think it's unwilling... I think it really is about ability) to get mad enough or dirty enough to actually force the change that he'd like to champion.

But anyway, if you've never seen the Jimmy Stewart/Frank Capra classic, watch it.

Thanks for making me smile PD. Think I'm taking this topic WAY too seriously.
Great movie but its just that - a movie because its quite a bit of contrast given the rules of the game with politicians nowadays. Too bad the days of Romans are gone, when Brutus actually had the balls to fall on his own sword.

As for Mr. Smith goes to Washington, I think Joe Biden might be the closest to Mr. Smith. Its hard to believe that after 30+ years in the senate, he still is makes a meager living and owns only 1 house. He doesn't have mega millions to show from under the table dealings. I think Obama picked him for 1 reason, "he is squeaky clean". Despite being a bit too talkative on occasion, no one can say with justification, he's corrupt. Also he has a son that serves in the military (one of the few if not the only ones) which is an added asset.

I'd say McCain is more corrupt and entrenched than Joseph Paine and he doesn't have any guilt. In fact he actually feels entitled to everything because he got shot down in Nam.

Maybe I sound insensitive but its not the case at all. I do care!  But if I had to live my whole life based on how everyone might be sensitive to me.. I would not be living my life as I want it. So you can accept me and my flaws as I am or you can't.

Hey PD look what she did in her home state and Alaska bear will agree that she fought corruption and coralled in the big oil companies. It was nice not to see a Stevens or Murkowski as Governor for once. Also she wasnot ready for prime time when she did the Katie Couric interview but she has gotten a lot better on theissues since then. DT you need to change yourpolitical views and stop being so liberal

Reflections, I realized that there's no way to even discuss these issues with someone that has no common frame of reference - I deal in facts and realities and you appear to deal in some sort of bizarre alternate reality that must be nice to visit once in a while, but I'd hate to be stuck there permanently. I can see that you don't want any facts to get in the way of your opinions, so the most sensible thing for both of us to do would be to set the other's profile on "ignore". I've gone ahead and done so now so I won't be seeing or responding to your posts in the future, and you might just want to do the same to mine. Just go to the top of any of my posts and click the little button that says "ignore".

Although parting is such sweet sorrow (bet neither you nor your heroine Sara can ID that reference without having to look it up on the internet!) I'll pass along a few final bon mots (go ahead.... look it up!) to lighten the inevitable heartache:

"Early on in the first episode Sarah Palin talked about trying to protect her family's privacy while speaking directly into a television camera." €“ Jimmy Kimmel

Have to agree with the Sara-mockers on this one.

The rest of the world is again struck with horror at the thought of a "dumber than dubya" President. More damage was done to the global economy, US goodwill and US international respect in the 8 Shrub years than ever before. Such is the plight of a President where every sound bite is instantly international news. (You could afford to be a dumb cunt in Coolidges' day.)

Would you really want Palin to stand up there and argue world affairs given that she is basically a reality show hack who couldn't find... I dunno... say the UK on a globe?

She contrary. She is contradictory. She is so obviously in it only for what it can do for her and her inbred, half bred and white bread little nigger hating family.

The world is too small and fragile at the moment to have a menapausal leader.

come on guys you are all too liberal to understand how great she is. you dont have to be a rocket scientist to be a good president. Look at President Reagen the greatest American President since Abe Lincoln. I agree we conservatives have better candidates to run in 2011 for President like Speaker Newt Gingrich, a brilliant conservative and can rival if not exceed any democrat's knowledge of foreign affairs.
Gov Palin was busy running her state as Gov to become knowledgeable about foreign affairs.
DT dont tell me I live in a bizarre reality world. Its you and your liberal politicians who do nothing but spend, spend, spend and tax, tax and tax and write laws and regulations that suffocate Americans trying to legally make a living and support our families. Say what you want about Gov Palin but I would take her in the white house any day of the week over one of your Democrat liberal "scholars"

(reflections @ Nov. 20 2010,19:56) cGov Palin was busy running her state as Gov to become knowledgeable about foreign affairs.

Ah Reflections.... I can only assume you are winding us up, taking the piss.

She was governor of Alaska for what, 2 years? How does that excuse such total ignorance of world affairs>?

Most of us have busy careeers, (most likely far more busy that the governor of Alaska.) Yet most of us have a clue about whats happening in the world.

You scare me Reflections. If you are the average American Joe, then you are a very scary man.

Foxee, I've got Reflections on ignore now (as do many of his intended audience) but I can assure you he is NOT an average American Joe. He obviously has some mental/emotional issues which he seems to want to work out here via winding up folks who are a bit more tethered to reality.

I think when you read the comments of Alaskan Bear, myself, Jake, even Blue Ballz (whom I normally would argue with if he insisted the sky was blue) you'll find that we all realize Palin is bad news and is more or less a celebrity personality and not a legitimate politician.

I won't remove/rescind my "ignore" of his ignorant posts, as I just don't have enough time between friends, family, my career and the rest of my life to play games with an internet troll who's really probably a 12 year old mental patient playing with the group home computer. I'd suggest you take ANYTHING has to say with the same or more grains of salt. It's a lot easier to annoy him by ignoring him than by trying to play his game.

This is typical American know-nothingness in action. No concept of what their interests are, they share beliefs with people who despise them and only even bother to recognize their existence because they need their votes.
Unless this Reflections dude is among the super-rich elites, he is just another idiot American with no concept of what his interests may be. And if he were among the super-rich, then he'd be just another evil fucking parasite.

This country is full of people just like him--yes, it's fucking scary as hell. You have wealth flowing to the top at rates that we haven't seen since the gilded age, and these clowns are doing the bidding of billionaires.
