    Most annoying spelling error?

People who don't know the difference between 'lose' and 'loose' are easily the most annoying people on the planet.

Now; even my favourite (and best designed) website has fallen fowl (yes, I know!) of this simple but oft made err!

That's what you get when you outsource your proof reading to Indian based students.

(Bumpa STIKKA @ Oct. 30 2010,22:11) People who don't know the difference between 'lose' and 'loose' are easily the most annoying people on the planet.
OTOH, those who misuse there, their, and they're (like me) generally are aware of the difference but just type their thoughts.

Most people think and talk in words or sentences, not letters.

But I agree, people who use loose for lose should die. But only after they are castrated.

Is it "coming down the pipe" or "coming down the pike"?

For me it is the use of 's as a mark for plural.

It was always that "stoogie" misspelling that got to me.

BTW, whatever hapened to that guy?

I could care less about political correctness but BS can you provide us with proof that it was indeed outsourced to "foreign students"?

This is comical but I'd say its more likely some lazy bum named Peter Wright sleeping on the job and deciding to look up some porn or read some funny papers instead of doing his job - being the editor.

Care for a wager? How about 50 years free TLF access if I win?

Maybe I sound insensitive but its not the case at all. I do care!  But if I had to live my whole life based on how everyone might be sensitive to me.. I would not be living my life as I want it. So you can accept me and my flaws as I am or you can't.

The Daily Mail hack was probably using MS Word spelling chequer.

                      lose/loose
                      their/there/they're
                      your/you're
                      its/it's
                      elicit/illicit
                      discreet/discrete
                      affect/effect
                      compliment/complement
                      accept/except
                      definitely/definately
                      weird/wierd
                      existence/existance
                      friedfrunk/fredfrunk/friedfunk

i don't always use proper english myself and i sometimes make up my own words. so i'm not a stickler if somebody misspells (not "mispells", another common error).

It's ok if you do it Tan.

Ugly people who do it should die and then be castrated.
