      (Bumpa STIKKA @ Jun. 30 2010,13:34) Easy - Religion.

Nothing has managed to fool so many people for so long.

It's amazing that in this day and age there are fuckwad idiots out there who still believe this nonsense.
I've been giving this some thought lately and I agree and here's why..

You would think we're in the Age of Reason   yet so many times I talk to people and they say, "Our scriptures", "Our holy book", "Its forbidden to change or question it".

Therein lies my problem. They say they're educated, loving, yet they're not even willing to consider anything out of their book. They say, "The holy book tells us how to lead a normal life". Well I say, it tells them how to live in submission rather than actually experiencing something for themselves.

Jimbo of C&D's made a point recently that I thought about for a min, it was something along the lines of, "Fuck I can't live my life through youtube." The point applies here. These religious nuts "the followers" live their life through a book and so willingly disregard all other books that give better reason for things.

I dated a girl last year who was so caught up into religion, she hated reading about science and was unwilling to accept the fact that science creates cell phones, airplanes, electricity and it didn't exist during the times when her book was written. I was called an outright liar and dumped.

So you are really onto something here Marko. But alas I digress, I'm just venting.

Maybe I sound insensitive but its not the case at all. I do care!  But if I had to live my whole life based on how everyone might be sensitive to me.. I would not be living my life as I want it. So you can accept me and my flaws as I am or you can't.

The American Dream. IMO it all started going badly with the assassination of JFK. Had he lived then America's involvment in Vietnam would have been unlikely to happen.

But it was JFK who sent the military advisors into Vietnam -the proverbial thin end of what became a rather large wedge/useless blunt object -JFK has been the most over-rated of 20th century Presidents, but historically he was the richest according to a recent survey, having inherited staggering wealth from his crooked dad...JFK was also not as liberal on civil rights in practice as some people think, although it is conceivable that had he lived the Civil Rights Act would have got through Congress.
Matusow's 'The Unraveling of America' was a good read when I was an undergrad, also good on Black Power and the LBJ admin.

You think they would update the Koran for the 21st century and try to make martyrdom more appealing. Instead of 72 virgins, mix it up abit. Throw in a few well hung shemales, a midget, a few pornstars and an endless supply of cocaine and KY lube to have a big party. I can see the ques outside the Al Qaeda career opportunities job centre already.

I make no claims to be an authority on JFK but comparing the way he handled the Bay of Pigs crisis to the way LBJ handled the "attack" on the US frigate off the coast of Vietnam, leads me to conclude that had JFK acted with the same level of intelligence, the bombing of Hanoi would never have been ordered.

What a fucking disaster that turned out to be....

That is so good to hear. Occasionally a doco comes along that is so good, it deserves to be seen.

It is so rare that we hear from an insider as to what actually happens at these moments in history & even rarer when one recants & declares he was wrong.

Wouldn't it be something if Henry Kissinger did the same thing before he dies? Wishful thinking I guess.
