When i was in NI in the 90s there was a documentary looking at the divide in Belfast. 2 snotty nosed Prot kids were asked how they knew if someone was Catholic. 'They all have red hair and stink of pee' was the response. At least 3 generations of inner-city ghettoisation had created this sort of attitude. Mutual distrust will take years to disappear - hopefully the next generation will be better educated.

Been all over the world but thats one place I have never been-Ulster that is. Dated a girl form Belfast in Amsterdam years ago-thats another story. Everything she told me just made me want to visit even more!!!

Whats the answer?? I wouldnt even try to answer that one....

years ago, i worked with a lad who had just found out that the band "the corrs" were family, and that was their surname.
i asked what else did he think.?
he replied he thought it was an irish thing, "up the cause".

Spent a week in NI 10 years or so ago, place called Newcastle next to the mountains of Mourn! Was at a wedding that took place just outside Belfast! Each village we visited showed evidence of there sypmathies(painted kerbstone and flags mainly). Spent a little time in Dundalk and went through Newry, where there was a few Pro IRA slogans painted. Down to wexford in the south after NI for a few days!

Whatever the politics it was a great trip and a beautiful place!

Incidently some of my best mates are Irish, and i do hope they resolve the troubles eventually!

Last weekend there was 5 IRA men arrested while transporting a bomb across the border near where my sister lives. There was a shoot out with the cops aswell. All pretty normal stuff around these parts.
