I'm pretty much the same. I did see the 1st Star Wars, 20 yrs after it was released. Never seen the rest or any Star Trek, nor do I care to.
If I want fantasy, I'll look at Brasilian TS porn.

The only sci fi show I love is Battlestar galactica. They nailed it.
That show is built more on the charecters than the sci-fi aspect. its the only reason its been that successful.
And I'm talking about the re-imagined series, not the original.
Maybe I sound insensitive but its not the case at all. I do care! But if I had to live my whole life based on how everyone might be sensitive to me.. I would not be living my life as I want it. So you can accept me and my flaws as I am or you can't.

same, same......never saw it as a teenager, everyone thought I was the weirdest person around because I DIDN'T see it and everyone else did! Also didn't have a Farrah poster on my wall, hey I was a rebel, OK??
Fast forward to when they re-released that horrible nonsense in the late 90's ....my kids were small and we all went together; I SWEAR to you we all fell asleep!! Even me, the so-called adult....couldn't wait to leave that theater when we awoke to see the credits, the memory of that day lingers like a bad odor.
Could never understand how anyone liked that crap, but we all have different tastes.
Dude, I remember my neighbor's older brother having that poster on his wall and he was smoking weed with his buddies and little brother and me were not allowed to have any. He said, "If I die today, I want you to take my ashes and throw it either on Farrah or her poster"
I shit you not.. one of those things you never ever forget.

I'll probably watch Shawshank when I get the chance. Nothing against it. IMDB.com ranks it near the top of their top 250, if not #1 overall. Just looked, and it is their #1 overall.
I'll probably kick myself for waiting so long. I didn't see Sling Blade for several years after it was released, and then loved it. Felt dumb for waiting. One of my co-workers seen it at the theater and raved about it. Kept telling me to see it. So, I finally bought the DVD.

When I was in the USAF, I went with a friend to watch Soylent Green. It literally put me to sleep after 20 mins or so. Ol' Chuck had some real clunkers for being such a great actor.
I did have a Farrah poster though. One of Cheryl Ladd too. Cheryl's daughter who was in Death Proof is nowhere near as hot as her mom was.
One of my best friends in the USAF was from Jawjuh. (Georgia for you Brits)
He gave me a full size Confederate Flag and I even hung that on my wall. I was a lot more silly back then.

Apocalypse Now
Both worth the time
Apocalypse Now is the best movie ever made, period.

Movies I haven't watched and have no intention of watching:
Gone with the Wind.
Casablanca
Star Wars (Revenge of the Gonads, episodes 1-39)
Movies I watched and wished I didn't:
Titianic: it pissed off every nautical bone in my body.
Last Tango In Paris: Demonstrated Anal sex and changed my life.
That Shitty Vampire Movie with TomC and BradP... Tom C camped it up just a little too convincingly.

Shouldn't this thread simply be titled "Things I'm Completely Ignorant Of But Willing To Slag Off Anyway"
I'm no expert, but any thread that supports NOT watching "Godfather" and "Godfather II" based upon the input of people that have never bothered to watch them... that's asinine.
I just watched the Blue Ray reissue and was blown away by both 1 & 2. Then watching the assembled extras and some of the commentary about how the film was made, the cinematography and artistic decisions Coppola made... it all made me appreciate it even more.
Truly two of the greatest American masterpieces of art - ever. And I don't normally enjoy drama.

P.S. - Shawshank Redemption is wonderfully enjoyable movie.... try it!
Avoid "Godfather 3" at all costs. Horribly disappointing and almost a parody of the classic tragedy of 1 & 2 - sort of like the daytime tv soap-opera version of a High School drama production based upon the characters and themes of the classic Godfather series. Jaw-droppingly bad (especially considering the talent involved). Bathetic.
