(seamus @ Apr. 30 2010,23:28)  The more I hear about Phil food , the less inclined I am to visit the place. For me ,good or bad food , can make or break a holiday !
Some things better here and some things better in Thailand. A lot of it is personal taste. My favorite dish in Thailand is Som Tum and there is nothing here that comes close at all. IMO, the Pinoys can roast a whole pig better than anyone, including the Thais. I like their BBQ chicken here better too. Overall their diet is not as healthy as a Thai diet IMO. A lot fewer greens and such. Too high pct of their diet is corn and rice. Of course all Asians love rice. I like it too. Just better to keep high glycemic index foods at not too high a pct of caloric intake. Rice, corn, pasta, taters, etc. All loaded with sugar. Thing of it is, those are all the cheap foods. What the poor people can afford. So, chicken and pork, the high protein foods are a low pct of intake and the rice corn etc are a high pct. That is why Philippines have some of the highest rates in the world of diabetes and hypertension.

"Inflexibility is the worst human failing. You can learn to check impetuosity, overcome fear with confidence and laziness with discipline. But for rigidity of mind, there is no antidote. It carries the seeds of its own destruction." ~ Anton Myrer
