For fast food joints, In & Out, no question.
There's a place in Santa Monica called Father's Office that makes amazing burgers. Also you can get it with garlic fries and a local micro brewed beer, ah yeah.

Red Robin is great, as is Carl's Jr.
Here in Seattle we have lots of the former (it's locally owned) but none of the latter. Much to my surprise, I just discovered a Carl's Jr. has opened near my Mom's house in Marysville - a small town 1 hour north of Seattle. Weird.
As far as I know it's the only one in Washington.Making newbie mistakes since 2009 so you don't have to

WTH? I like tacos, chimichanga, burritos but almost exclusively mexican???
How do they think people can survive without burgers? That's cruel and unusual punishment for their customers!
Did they replace burger porn with chimichanga porn?

I had to vote McDonalds..........my first job many many years ago and I am still a sucker for a Big Mac or a QP with cheese.
But in Nashville there is a place called Fat Mo's that has the best hamburgers I have ever had

Well we have a fuck-ton of burger joints and fast food places in Chicago. There are also a literally uncountable number of "Gold Coast Hot Dog" style places selling Chicago dogs.
