    (Torurot @ Mar. 16 2010,14:54) >> Ayahuasca lasts 4-5 hours and has 6 or 7 ingredients from the forest included; I am assuming they also play a part in the effects incurred.>>

    On a slightly different tack, how much experimenting over what time scale did the Jungle guys do get the mix as it now is??. Generations??
    Aya consumption has probably been around for hundreds of years....maybe thousands. It is made by many different tribes and made in several different counties in South America. Each tribe makes Aya a bit differently. Some use different combinations of the same ingredients and other tribes use different ingredients. Some Aya from certain tribes is much more effective than other Aya from other tribes. Some tribes drink a modified and less potent version of Aya everyday. Some of the Aya camps that cater to foreigners are high quality and some are low quality...just like most "businesses". Make sure you go to a "quality" Aya camp if you choose to go. Some camps are bogus tourist ripoffs. Go to the camp Jai Dee went to.

    Aya is not like LSD. People will experience the god experience and they all seem to be the same experience for everyone that has reached that level. On LSD, shrooms, etc. people experience different experiences. Aya is on a whole nother level than LSD, shrooms, etc. Also, the experiences are different than just a DMT trip. On a LSD trip, one knows that the experince was a "hallucination". Aya trips seem to be "real". You can experince what lies in the spirit world that Humans cannot see in everyday life and what exists after death. You can also see the spiritual beings. They will talk to you and guide you and won't let you pass into the god-realm until you are ready. Many people will tell you the exact story of not being allowed to pass by the spirit beings because they are not ready. Many people also will come into contact with the giant black snake. You have to purge your mind of past experinces, etc. before being allowed to see the god force / "god".
    If you want to see and experience the universal energy, knowledge, and intelligence (the god power?), Aya is the vehicle to do so.

    And don't even suggest it is like smoking alot of marijuana! People have cured lifelong depression by going to an Aya camp. I have never read or heard of anyone having permanent mind damage from Aya trips like those that can happen from LSD.I have had satori moments during mediatation. I doubt that any monk, sage, etc. could ever reach the level that Aya allows one to reach.

    Jai Dee knows what he is talking about! This is not bullshit. Google it and study it. For any doubters reading this...I say buy a plane ticket to the same place Jai Dee went to and participate in all the Aya sessions. You will be a believer then.

      Thank you, and I couldn't agree more; if Ayahuasca was just DMT it would be called DMT, and not Ayahuasca and there would be no other ingredients such as the Aya vine and the various leaves and barks, which my shamans told me were essential to getting optimal results.

       I swear I didn't write the above comments!! I only have one screen name here;  but I agree wholeheartedly and can't wait to do another session in Peru....and only someone who really, truly believed in the healing powers and transcendental experiences incurred by doing this extremely powerful medicine would go through the bother,  the expense and the sheer intensity of doing this stuff another 7 or 8 times; trust me.

        In the area I was in, northeast Peru where it meets with Columbia and Ecuador, I was told 3000 years.

          What JaiDee is describing sounds like what Bruce Parry went through in a BBC documentary about his trip from the beginning to the end of the Amazon. He was vomiting all night and having hallucinations, all of which was faithfully recorded using night vision cameras. It made me really glad that I had just forked out on a 42 inch plasma telly with 5.1 surround sound......

          I am sure that it will be out now on DVD for anyone who wants to see the process, warts and all. Of course, it can't show you the mental effects on Bruce, but my memory is that he tried to explain it as openly as he could.

          It's not for me. Being someone with quite a high potential for addictive behavour, I gave up narcotics in 70s when I sat on my hotel steps in Aghanistan watching two Chinese dragons, one red and one green, rolling down the road breathing fire, gave up playing cards and games of chance in the 80's when I realised that I could lose everything that I had worked for and have had a long battle to cut back on my drinking. Mr Abstemious, that's me. AKA Mr Boring!

            Boring ?

            That all sounds rather interesting. Especially since you seem to have survived it all

                 I bet!  That must've really made your night...

                  Believe it or not, camps like this actually HELP drug addicts and people who are either into hardcore drugs or alcohol too much and can't stop them on their own; I even met a few myself.  So who knows, perhaps in the 70's or 80's you may have actually benefitted from a trip to the Amazon.

               Another great documentary, which was actually filmed in the camp I went to, is called Metamorphosis; {Not the Kafka book, although that was excellent also}

                 probably hard to get, but I'd highly recommend it to anyone still interested  in Ayahuasca.  I own a copy and have watched it twice.
