Thanx Chinaman-i'll look up TUVALU,I like to find films NOT made in hollywood.Have you seen Run LOLA Run-very interesting film with the same basic story told 3 times,but with different twists each time ,filmed in Berlin,which is such a great city.

In The Company Of Men, a rather disturbing low budget film.

  Just saw Daybreakers tonight.    Both my teerak and I enjoyed it.  Despite not being deep or highbrow, it held my interest throughout which is one critical test.   Well done for what it is.

Hey there are some great sounding recs here that I wouldn't have heard of at all, they are already on my list..... Thanks! Again, I'm not asking about your favorite movies that we've all heard of, but rather those little sleepers that snuck up & suprised you when you got pulled into the story or characters.

Of the ones mentioned above that I have seen & I can heartly "ditto" : "In Bruges" "Glengarry Glenn Ross" (actually I think I've seen all of Mamet's movies, really like his unique style, he keeps you guessing), "Koyaanisqatsi" but you have to be in a certain mood & it's definitely not for everybody's taste. I'm listing the others on my queue.

And thanks for the great link, I'm just starting that stuff..... way behind the curve.

2 more I thought of since, & they are related since it is the same director for both:

Amores Perros I realize it's a set up for a punchline to say this is probably the best Mexican movie ever... And it's about dogs & the people associated with them.
However I thought this was the best movie I saw that year bar none, it's structured just like "Pulp Fiction", 3-4 parallel stories that intersect at times through the dogs, & it had the same emotional impact that PF had too, a bit deeper into the characters psyche tho. I think of it often, & the dog fighting scenes are amazing, and brutal. (Sometimes titled in english "Love's a Bitch")

21 Grams Same guy makes this a couple of years later, in English now with an A list of Hollywood actors due to Same structure of intersecting stories too. I didn't see it on release, & hardly anyone else either, because I thought it was about drugs, etc.,. caught it on cable tv one night & was floored, very powerful, you really get sucked into caring about the characters. Riveting performances from Benicio del Toro & Sean Penn & the rest of the cast, most got either Oscar or Bafta nominations, this is an actor's movie. (apparently 21 grams is the amount of weight one loses at the moment of death.)

Men who stare at goats was very good aswell. Another one not getting a mention is Harry Brown starring Micheal Cain. I went to see that one in the cinema and thought it was good. A great performance by Cain. It could be described as a British version of Gran Torino.

Am downloading Green Zone aswell. Have always been a Matt Damon fan since the Jason Bourne films, which El_Hefe if you have not seen would be a good choice. The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremecy, and The Bourne Ultimatum. Word is Robert Ludlum is writing another Jason Bourne book to be made into a film. He is the american version of James Bond, only 100 times better.

It will be written by a ghost writer then as Ludlum died in 2001.

I think I've posted this link before but its a good site for movies. it's where I got my copy of th Hurt Locker. Currently downoading Woddy Harrelson's The Messengr. 6 hour download time for Harry Brown, Heaven and Earth, The Messenger- I can live with that. I need a tecky to help me out though. I can get my TV to work as a monitor from the laptop. It shows all functions but I am having a problem with windows media player. It shows the movie running on the laptop monitor and on the TV the time elapse shows in Media player but no picutre. As I said, ALL other functions are working on the big screen- any advice gratefully received. I'm using the RGB (PC) 15 pin cable between the laptop and tv.
