That would be hard to pull off, the timing would all have to be exactly perfect.

Again, for years we have been told there was some guy or guys on the ''grassy knoll'' [ a phrase only used here as far as I have ever seen] who fired while Oswald was firing; imagine the timing it would take to get that down right? And then cover it all up and have no one come forward and talk about it for 47 years? Pretty hard to fathom and as usual I am sticking with what I have concluded since high school; it was a lone nutcase who wanted to make himself famous.

10 people versus 6 for 'other' choices now, so at least 9 people are as ill-informed and hard-headed as I am. I wish we could get 100 votes or so and really gauge how people feel, 16 just isn't enough.

Again, the real issue here is that the human mind does not want to believe that something so huge, so devastating, so enormous, could be caused by a single person (or a dozen people in the case of 9/11). So rather than believe the evidence, we search for a hypotheses that will relieve our discomfort and PROVE that it was actually the work of something much larger.

Personally, I think Stogie did it.

          Thank you.

Just admitting that a nobody like LH Oswald could do this alone is something most people just don't want to deal with, they all figure there MUST be a larger force out there who master-minded it and not some 2-bit loser from the wrong side of the tracks who wanted his 15 minutes of fame.

LOOK for a conspiracy and you will find one, plain and simple.

I have been thinking a little about the subject of conspiracy theories.

Before the age of the internet when all information became available to everyone simultaneously, what the public were allowed to know differed from country to country.

Here in Oz it became apparent that friends living in the US were given a different version of the news to what I was.

This was bought home to me when I was listening to an interview on the radio with the American biographer Donald Spotto. He had just released his latest book, Marilyn, on the life of Marilyn Monroe.

Towards the end of a very good interview he was so worked up that he revealed how Marilyn died & who killed her. The interviewer asked him the obvious question - "why wasn't this news in his book?"

He replied that he could never make the allegation in the US despite the fact he had been shown the toxicology report & had proof "beyond doubt". He was too concerned about the legal ramifications & his publisher had backed away from anything so controversial.

And in case you are thinking they were trying to protect the Kennedy's legacy, wrong. According to Spotto they had nothing to do with it.
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

If I want news and facts I'll stick to Al Jazeera... but I'm perfectly content with entertainment for now!

You'd get closer to a hundred voters if we had the "Who honestly gives a toss!" option which is sadly missing!

(Bumpa STIKKA @ Mar. 03 2010,08:54) Who cares. He was a shit puppet for a president anyway.
That is a poor analysis of someone who will be remembered for single handedly saving the world from a nuclear war.

JFK will go down as a great President but I despair for what the US & the world lost by his early demise.

He would never have bombed Hanoi thus saving the unnecessary deaths of 160,000 young US troops.

Plus he would have dismantled the business links of the CIA to the major banks, the industrial barons & the oil companies. That alone would have seen the third world develop in a very different way.

JFK was the last man in the White House who really challenged the status quo & with his death, we can only wonder what might have been.

You are not old enough to remember Azza.

No one of my generation will ever forget where they were when the news broke of JFK's death.

Back then, we all looked to the US as the greatest country in the world.

Today, after the Bush Presidency, no one thinks that any more. Quite the contrary actually...

True Pac... but i remember seeing film of people reaction to the event and you could see how much the President meant to them at that time.

I personally miss George W ... its all a little bit duller for lack of a better word

I suppose that its a bit of fun to peruse these things

Just suppose for one minute that there was an omnipotent God that actually knew the answer and your life hinged on getting the right answer

Would you still say the CIA did it. Remember if you get it wrong a lighting bolt from the heavens will decend and zap you into the soil you came from..

                          mmm..

Well I'm certainly going to rent that movie from Netflix next, I saw it so long ago I have no memory of even seeing it, thanks for the recommendation thegame365.

Pacman, what did Spotto say exactly & how would a toxicology result prove anything as far as motive or whodunnit? She was all connected with the bros Kennedy, but she was also pretty well known as a lush/"pill popper" type. I ask because I literally have her autopsy report in my files (don't ask) & it lists a pharmacological soup in her system but that doesn't prove someone killed her.

Although I have to say I met one of the people who very plausibly said that he was in her house that night when the death happened & he claims she was killed too, quite deliberately, in addition to her pill/alcohol abuse.

It would be sensational if one could prove that the Kennedy's, engineered her overdose & then the rogue CIA oil money wing paid the Mafia to kill JFK & arm Sirhan Sirhan to clean up with RFK. Parts seem plausible but to keep it all a secret for almost 50 years is hard to swallow.

Good point Tomcat. If I knew my answer was the difference between life & death, what would I say?

I would have to go with Oswald as the shooter, that's easy. It just defies belief that anyone else fired a gun at the same time but then, why were people running towards the grassy knoll pointing immediately after the shooting?

But the question of Oswald acting on his own volition? No. Who put him up to it I am in no position to say.

I have trouble believing that the CIA would want to knock off their own President but given their track record, they weren't encumbered by a deep sense of morality.

Where the story gets interesting is what happened immediately after the shooting.

Oswald was arrested later that day after shooting & killing Police Officer Tippets. He was described as being in a catatonic state, like he was in a drugged stupor.

His testimony would have made compelling listening. He insisted that he didn't shoot the President but wanted to tell his story. He was denied his chance by a bizarre turn of events.

The one place where the "lone gunmen theory" gets the wobbles is the entry into the picture of a petty crim Jack Ruby.

JaiDee offers the reason for his execution-style shooting of Oswald as the act of a patriot. Well he must be the luckiest patriot ever with the bizarre set of circumstances that saw him able to breach the security of the Dallas Police Station & somehow know where & when Oswald was being transferred through the basement.

There are dozens of rumours surrounding Jack. Taken individually, they can be dismissed as coincidence but in total, they point to something much more than a "desire to save Jackie having to return to Dallas to testify".

Things that are known about Jack Ruby - as soon as he learnt that Kennedy was visiting Dallas he made phonecalls to Mafia bosses all over the United States. Plus he was dying of cancer with only months to live. These are facts that can't be disputed.

Add all the weird stuff about Jack having met Oswald & spent time with him, about the source of the gun he fired, a substantial debt he owed the mafia, his connections inside the Police Station, how he slipped past a guarded entrance, etc, etc & one is left to wonder if he really just decided on a whim to pop into the basement "just in case" or whether he was rushing that day to make an appointment.

None of this meets JaiDee's demand for CONCRETE PROOF but if I had to answer an omnipotent god who would strike me dead if I knowingly lied, then I would say Oswald killed the President but he had to be silenced lest the real perpetrators of the crime were revealed.

The interview with Spotto was so compelling, I did something I have never done in my life. I rang the studios & asked for a copy of it.

It is on a cassette that I haven't listened to in a long time but if I need to, I can get you his exact words. Those who I played it to were amazed.

Parts seem plausible but to keep it all a secret for almost 50 years is hard to swallow.
Plausible or not, if you read John Perkins' book "Confessions of an Economic Hitman", you will be staggered by the stuff that has been kept from the American public (and the rest of us) for much longer.

He even has his own website where he posts updated information. I imagine it is very popular among conspiracy theorists because he is a sole whistle-blower whose past & connections cannot be denied.
