              After the Golden era from 1980 until 1984. "Jazz Funk" was all but played out, a few good tunes in 85 & 86, but to few & far between. It just seemed to be ballad after balled of over produced " modern contemporary Soul"
              Then a track from the Keith Sweat album was released, produced by a young guy out of New york. the track was called "I want her" New Jack swing was born. This was the dance music the black music clubs & DJs had been waiting for.
              Then Teddy Riley & his own group "Guy" brought out this shelf titled Album & the rest is history.

                Growing up in the 70s we had to suffer through HORRIBLE SHITE like Foreigner, Journey, Boston, The Eagles, et al   That was about all you could hear on FM radio.
                All that changed when I discovered punk and new wave in the early 80s it was a total game changer for me and a few of my friends.
                I'll start off with a few of my faves.

                        Yes, exactly!!

                        Rocks was really their last good album, think about it.....and that came out in 1978!!

                        Everything since then has been commercial garbage..... I was going to post ''Rocks'' up here, that was another one of those albums from my teen years that I just couldn't WAIT to get home from school to play every day!!

                        Fookin' wore some serious grooves in Toys in the Attic as well....great Boston band for about 5 years

                          Keeping with the theme of this thread.... influencing people or other bands.... Trent Reznor has made millions of otherwise-depressed and dark people happy with his brilliant productions over the years under the Nom De Guerre Nine Inch Nails.

                          An incredible visionary and a musical genius, this was his breakthrough album and includes the hauntingly-beautiful song "Hurt''

                              Along with Nirvana, the band who brought back good alternative music to the world after a 10-year absence, otherwise known as THE FREAKING 80's!! New Wave, Asia, Flock of Seagulls and pointless hair bands like Poison and Ratt and Quiet Riot, etc......it was a breath of fresh air to get this album in 1992, the 2nd produced by the great Chicago band Smashing Pumpkins;

                              cool cover, too!!
