American English here - representing NYC.

I wanna meet Naang Faa once, just so I can hear what this scouse accent you all talk about is. For me as an American I tend to classify all brits together as 1 accent but I can tell the difference if its scottish or irish.

Maybe I sound insensitive but its not the case at all. I do care!  But if I had to live my whole life based on how everyone might be sensitive to me.. I would not be living my life as I want it. So you can accept me and my flaws as I am or you can't.

Jake, you would be suprised how so many different accents and dialects there are here in the   and British Isles

Here are 21 of them for starters

The Geordie (Newcastle) accent I cant understand myself

The Brummie ( Birmingham) accent I find the most amusing (sorry Anthony70   )

And  I actually find the "Scouse" accent quite sexy on a Bird (girl), if you only knew the Rivalry there is between the Liverpool and Manchester United Football Fans you would realise how hard that is for me to say

Hey dave-have you ever been mistaken for a scouser in any other part of the uk?I have been asked many times-"are you from liverpool?" SCOUSE BIRDS SOUND SEXY ? wtf.

I heard any Irish comedian describe the Cork accent as "like listening to a tinker trying to speak French"

What about Glaswegian Dave?Didn't they consider putting sub-titles on Rab C Nesbit when it was on the BBC?

She must be the "WORST" impersonator of British accents Ive ever heard Jake

Sounds nothing like a Geordie or a Scouser

I agree-you'd be beaten to death in the 'pool for that accent,Jake-for a scouse accent-think John Lennon. For a birmingham accent ,think ozzy Osbourne(ok-watered down a litle nowadays, but you can still hear it) For a proper twats accent-think Hugh Grant.

They could have been speaking welsh.Totally incomprehensible to anyone else, and even all the welsh don't speak it.But all the road signs are in welsh/english ,and they have their own tv welsh language channel.Almost exclusively spoken in N.Wales.

Are you Welsh Dave? That would explain a lot if so. You and Karl are the toughest for me to understand, accent wise, of anyone I've met through the forum.

BigTel on the other hand, also Welsh, is extremely easy to understand.

No matter how tough to understand the Welsh generally are, they're accent is nothing compared to the Scots. WTF is it they're speaking anyway? You can't call that just an accent. It is more like a separate dialect, roughly rooted in English.

hey Lefty, type Rab C. Nesbit into you tube....its a comedy "sitcom" about a glaswegian lowlife and his pals.
It's hilarious and has a cult following in the U.K.When the BBC first screened it,they condidered putting English sub-titles on it,and of course its in "english" but decided to show it without.
See how much of it you can understand....

                        Dave's not Welsh Lefty-he's a proper manc!

No mate, Im not Welsh but from Stockport (near Manchester) in the North-West of England

The Welsh thing goes back to one night maybe 18 months ago in the Ezy bar whilst I was in the company of BigTel, thaibound and Doug.

Doug and thaibound ( both USA) could not understand a word myself or Karl were saying so I declared myself a Welshman that night

Its not my accent you cant understand Lefty its just the way I talk, I "mumble" far too much and BS has similar problems trying to understand me too

LOL so much for that idea.

I've heard Wayne Rooney on tv interviews. He's a scouse isn't he?

And do I need to bring a pen and paper to talk with you in person?
