I've been in the U.S. since I was 3. Family came from South America. I consider both English and Spanish as my native languages.

Québecois (French Canada) with dual passport - Canada & France

Speak québecois (almost the same as french, just meatier swear words) but I get by with english, italian and german. Started taking mandarin classes last year. Don't know which is harder - thai or mandarin.

Personally, I think that writing would be more diff in Mandarin as there is absolutely no alphabet.

As for speaking I would almost say Mandarin is a bit easier - only 4 vs 5 tones, pretty standardized romanization of Mandarin = Pinyin and less emphasis on guttural, etc. sounds.

This whole thread seems like a waste of time.

This is an english-language forum. I'm thrilled that folks of other native tongues chose to join us, but the bottom line is that posting in french and asking others to babelfish it for meaning is going to go over like a lead balloon.

Perhaps you should have posted this in Austrian/Deutsch and used it as an experiment?

Many non-native English language members speak/write better english than the product of American public schools can. When I was in Amsterdam the locals spoke better english than the cabdrivers I deal with here in Seattle.

So anyway, what exactly is the point of this little exercise Chinaman? Seems like a bit of wanking if you ask me.
