Last paragraph is a bit over the top?

In my scheme, the people who ate too much fat, drank too much or smoked too much would have been warned already by the doctors before the real problems begin.
If they went to their FREE annual check-ups though.

It's not as clear cut as you make out! Take in the Uk, or US, most of the developed world, the problems of obesity,smoking, drug abuse and alcohol are ingrained in society. Now take a child growing up in an impoverish environment, a lot of the time they don't stand much chance from day one of being born. Why? Parents lead by example, so the next generation follow there lead! Yes true there are lots of lazy parents out there who feed there kids crap, wont cook, drink too much and maybe abuse substances , so the kid does not learn, so really these people are a lot to blame, not the offsprings!

Now take a big proportion of societies with mental health issues, the first priority for a lot of these people is too survive the day, not how much they smoke,drink and eat.
A lot of mental illnesses have people who smoke far too much and abuse alcohol so obviously this is a problem without going too Nazi policies/ euegenics to eradicate mental health problems. The point - lots of people with mental health problems cost a lot of money too the health service - hospitalization,treatment for related problems caused by Smoking and so on.

Now answer me this, are you going to tell these people to beat it cause they are a drain?

Now i am not defending smokers or the other mentioned problems and certainly not the scrotes who participate in drink related violence that is a big, big drain on services and costs! The problems that you Manarak have earmarked, are issues of course but should we also pay for sporting injuries in the health service and people who smash up there vehicles through crazy and reckless driving. They know the risks like smokers of there chosen activity!

With reference to the mental health part, i do work in health care and see what impoverish society lives under. So maybe you could leave your bubble for a little while and stop whinging about dirty smokers and the like. Lets say you lived in the uk and contacted HIV or AIDS, through your liking for PENIS, should we then pay for your treatment? You could whinge that your genes made you like PENIS, but very doubtful.

This is not a personal attack or anything of the like! And does mainly relate to the NHS.

As an American who has lived 12 of the past 15 years outside of the States in countries with National Health Care, I can honestly say I will not move back to the States until major Health Reform at the very least takes place. For the past 10 years I have lived in Japan, and I am VERY happy with my National Health Care, in fact the only time I have been without health coverage in 15 years was the wait period when I returned to the States a few years ago to help take care of my Mom who was going thru chemo. As soon as she was better, I returned to Japan and my job and was covered the same day because I made a point to run down to City Hall and re-register for Health Care.

Most Americans who complain about National Health Care have never lived where it was offered and have no clue beyond the hysteria of Fox News what it really is.

I am turning 40 in a couple of weeks, and as I get older, I am sure something will come up health wise. If it does, I will not be able to get coverage in America because of a pre-existing condition. So unless they get rid of that major loop hole for the Insurance Industry, I will never be able to get coverage in America if I get sick in my current situation.

How insane is that?

micheal williment is confined to a wheelchair and virtually housebound.
two carers help him in and out of bed and hoist him into a specially built armchair, where he sits for 11 hours a day.

the sun told last month how the worlds heaviest man- 70-stone paul mason of ipswich, suffolk - had cost the NHS more than £1 million in care.

it seems to be forgotten that we not only tax but we also pay national insurance every week which is supposed to pay for our health care but however bad peaple think our system is and abused by many very many if your lying in a gutter late one night and found by a right minded person they will call an ambulance for free and you will be taken to hospitol and treated your fault or not free and i dont work for the nhs ps our intensive care units are amongst the best in the world falangs fault it but they aint got nothing like it for free

Of course, it sucks that some fat bastard, waste of space is costing millions to the system, especially when it's his fault for eating too much. No system is perfect.

I'll happily take a few (okay, probably thousands) of irresponsible mouth breathers being a drain, over the abuses that insurance companies are legally entitled to inflict on millions of people in the U.S.

Any Americans here who are really interested in exploring our health care options beyond the hysterical barking being presented to us on the media & or by our politicians would do well to watch the PBS "Frontline" show "Sick around the world", where a journo explores 5-6 other countries rather differing approaches to healthcare.... the only commonality between them is that one wouldn't have to declare bankruptcy after a lifetime of hard work in order to get proper healthcare in a catastrophic situation.
