In a demonstration of the spirit of sportsmanship that binds our two great nations   I have just received a txt from my mate Rick who hails from Sydney but lives in Ealing. It bore the single word:

    FUCKWEASELS

I think he is a spot miffed, possibly the £100 that he had on for an Aussie 4 Test victory has something to do with this

Well I suppose it will go into the record books as and England win but most will remember the Lords test as probably the worst umpiring seen for a long long time.

Not only that but the true colours of Andrew Strauss is shining through with his wasting time in the first test and now claiming a catch that almost bounced into his hands.

Rudi Koertzen has probably umpired his last test series also.

We wanted Simon Raufel; even as an Ozzie he is the best Umpire but world cricket wouldn t allow it even with the England team's approval.

With Bowden, it would have made for a better game. Also there were errors during the English innings too - like Bopara's wicket?

As for sledging and claiming wickets, The Ozzies have always been on the front foot where those are concerned.

"England have been the better side from the first ball - and not only in the big moments," Ponting told Sky Sports.

"They (bad umpire decisions) are all irrelevant now," he added. "At the end of the day we've been beaten by more than 100 runs in a Test match. We can't change anything that happened."

Ponting's observations are usually quite sanguine, even in defeat...

As for the umpiring, bring back Dickie Bird (R.I.P.   )

An interesting series is what we all want

Yep Ok congrats on winning a test. I understand what a novel and exciting experience this must be to you English fans out there, so please.... enjoy, inhale, suck up that feeling of wellbeing that comes with victory.

And then step back and think: "So this is how Aussies feel almost every day....."

Nah... It will be remembered as a win or a loss depending on who you wanted to win. When the game is over the whys and wherefores are soon forgotten.

But the umpiring in the second test did favour the home team...

The tactics of cricket are changing to try to ensure wins. The cricketing authorities will have to adopt modern technology eventually or the game will become as pointless as soccer.

So you are saying that if the 3 wickets had not been given Australia still had no chance of winning?

I am not inferring the converse is true however and that we would have won if they were not given only that we had a better chance.

We shall never know the correct answer to that Ozzie
Certianly the situation would have been a lot closer and let's face it, these decisions do tend to level out in the course of a series with perhaps a marginal advantage to the home side, the noise of the crowd playing a part in that.
Hopefully Australia shall continue to feel hard done by after the Edgbaston Test Match
However, with news just in that Pietersen, has been ruled out of action for six weeks and the last three matches following an operation on his Achilles tendon injury, I wonder who they shall bring in My choice would be previous ashes winning hero Ian Bell.
