Canadian Some refer to him as the Canadian Bob Dylan but I like to think of Dylan as the American Leonard Cohen.

(Stogie @ May 06 2009,01:48)(blonde_havoc @ May 06 2009,01:29) I like Bob Dylan, but his concert was also the worst I've ever been to...
The first 4 went from great to bad. In the end, he was a perfunctory stereotype of what a rock god should be, he was too loud, he mumbled & slurred his way through the lyrics, his song choice was questionable, it was a shame to see.
Then he was hospitalised with an infection of the sac that surrounds the heart & nearly died. I thought that was it, at least I had seen him live, but couldn't imagine any more shows.
Within a year a new tour was announced.
Not one of my friends who saw him the previous time was interested, a waste of good money they told me.
So off I went more in hope that he had changed his ways.
OMG, what a show! He came out & in a clear voice, talked to the audience unlike any previous time. He played all his original stuff, right from when he began & sang in a voice that was almost no different to how he sounded as a 20yo.
Blowin' in the Wind, Positively 4th Street, It ain't me Babe. Just like a Woman, Like a Rolling Stone, Highway 61 Revisited, Knockin' on Heavens Door.... for nearly 3 hours, all note perfect, no heavy metal backing, just what the fans wanted.
Without doubt, the best concert of his I have ever seen & to those who write him off as a performing artist, please make the effort to catch him now.
Just goes to show what a health scare can do, giving up the drugs was the best career move he ever made. That would have a lot to do with the improvement in his later albums.Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

monkeyman: the Rolling Stones aint had a chart entry for well over twenty years, and that great anti- establishment figure Mick Jagger almost begged for a knighthood, never lost touch with there fans !, get real mate. They were finished as a serious outfit once Ronnie Wood joined. Still if ending your career in the States singing Satisfaction each night to fat frustrated executives is how you get your kicks well go for it. JUDAS:
So just what is you're favourite Dylan album ?
You can choose two, my theory being that theres 'Blood On The Tracks' and then the rest. My 'other ' choice, and boy is it tough, would be 'Bringing It All Back Home'

Blonde on blonde! Followed by Highway 61 revisited."I can see it in the eyes.....they get hollow and soulless a year or 2 after the Op .... I coined the term ''shark eyes'' to describe that look"

Dylan is a lot like Van Morrison, a sublime ARTIST who often just phones in a live show...... moody, grumpy, burned out middle aged guys, (I know what that feels like) but every once in a while they catch fire on stage.
I've seen Van more times than I can count over more than 40 years but for some reason never caught Dylan until 4-5 years ago & have seen him 3X since: 1 snoozer, 1 pretty good (w. his current band) & 1 excellent (w. his previous band & on a bill with Paul Simon... maybe that spurred his competitive sense).
His voice is completely shot tho, just an almost monotone rasp now.
I feel his 3 mid 60's albums are his peak: Bringing it all back home, Highway 61 Revisited & Blonde on Blonde. Blood on the Tracks is just as good too. But his recent albums are pretty darn good too.
Says he made a deal with God that he would just keep touring indefinitely until he drops.....Attached Files

He is touring around the US in minor league baseball fields this summer with Willie Nelson and John Cougar Mellancamp. These are small venues and would probably be a great place to see them. Will be in my area in July. I've saw Dylan open for Santana about 12 or so years ago. It was an acoustic set. I just had to say that I saw him at least once, but since I've not seen Willie or Mellancamp live I may have to make this one.

Dylan was in Europe this spring and did a smaller club, about 1000 seats, the night before a sports arena.
I take any opportunity to see him live, you never know..."I can see it in the eyes.....they get hollow and soulless a year or 2 after the Op .... I coined the term ''shark eyes'' to describe that look"

Yeah. Mellencamp used to kick ass live, saw him in San Diego late 80´s. Great show. Now after his heartattack hes a bit more calm. Young is touring Europe this summer."I can see it in the eyes.....they get hollow and soulless a year or 2 after the Op .... I coined the term ''shark eyes'' to describe that look"

(pacman @ May 06 2009,09:05) Leonard Cohen is an American for a start...
Mirimark, you really need to aquaint yourself with this great Poet/Philosopher/Artist.
He is back on the tour circuit since he was ripped off a lot of money, he performed before 10,000 fans here earlier this year.
Try this one, Suzanne, this clip is years old but it still holds up...
after watching it, I still don't know him nor ever heard of him.
However, his lyrics are quite impressive.
I really Like him. Makes me want to go buy his CD's.
Thanks Pacman. My Femboys can Beat up your Ladyboys.

You're welcome little miss...
You could do a lot worse than pop his "Best of.." CD into the player on your Hummer.
You might never play a Metallica, Iron Maiden or Def Leppard CD again...Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.
