  • Dylan Hits Number One...

In the age of manufactured pop , reality TV and people just being famous for being rude and thick , its great to see a bit of class come back to the surface

Check out Bob Dylans new album Together Through Life ,his 33rd studio album which this week hit number 1 in the UK album charts , not bad for a 67 year old grandfather .

The old voice ain't what it was but this adds to the bluesy feel of the tracks , at times he sounds a little like Tom Waits , on tunes like "Shake shake mama " and "Its all good " he even sounds like he's enjoying himself .

"Life is hard " is as good a track as he's wrote in years , a guy on top of his game and still making good music almost 50 years on .

Lets hear it for the man

Dylan was Edgy for like 3 years in the 60's .

Ever since then he re invents himself and his followers claim has once again become Edgy , and new followers start to follow his old followers , ( actually if it wasnt for his sudden jump into being a christain music singer during my formative music appreciation years i may have been a fan ) .

Once again just another way he re invents himself and the followers jump on the bandwagon , all of a sudden he is Edgy again .

Call me when Mick and Keith become Edgy again and i will jump onboard and tell you about all the great concerts ive seen and how they never lost touch with there audience . Jumpin Jack Flash is a gas gas gas

I like Bob Dylan, but his concert was also the worst I've ever been to.

        Same same... Crap live.

He can churn out the blues in his sleep, though. His last 4 albums have been greatness.

I love him, but i have to agree with mm, the 3 albums he made as a 25 yearold is some of the best music ever recorded, imo. Seen him numerous times live, and he´s bit old , hehe.
Looking foward to the new album. Thanks , Jim.

Really enjoy"Modern Times" a lot more than "Together Through Life",but nice to see him back and even at 68 his mojo is still working good.

Probably many people in there will have a hard on with the black-and-white backseat gay kiss on the cover.

I'm certainly not claiming he's become edgy or some kind of protest singer again , he stopped doing that before I was born .
Its hard to be edgy when you are past pensionable age , he is making good music for the love of the music (same reason he constantly tours ) he certainly doesn't need the money .

It is what it is , a decent album by one of the greatest songwriters of our time .

I've always Love his song;  "  Tangled up in Blue. "
Not sure if it is the title of the song or just a phrase in the song.
I own two Dylan CD's.  they are both Great.   I think he is a great Song Writer.   He rivals J.Lennon, M. Jagger and of course Sir Elton John/Bernie Taupin.

There is no one else better than these artists.
                    Dylan is pure Ledgendary.

My favorite Dylan song is "Political World", which I doubt is many others favorite Dylan song, but something about it grabs me and I really liked the music video to it.

Other than Leonard Cohen, whom IMO is the greatest singer/songwriter ever, it doesn't get much better than Bob Dylan.

(Lefty @ May 06 2009,07:02) Other than Leonard Cohen,
                        Leonard Choen ? ? ?
Clue me in. What has he wirrtten and who has he written for ?

I realize a lot of Fantastic Music Artists don't write their own songs. (thats why i said; " Sir Elton John/ Bernie Taupin."

But I do not reconize ?
                        Leonard Choens name.

                        Who is he ?
                        Mark.

I have to disagree I saw Dylan with "The Band" in 73 in AA and thought it was awesome............of course seeing I was and busted the gates may have added to the aura!!!

Rather than my trying to explain who he is here, with my limited typing ability, I'll give you a couple of links to get you indoctrinated a little. A lot of his songs are on youtube, so you can search him there if you wish.

I discovered on my trip to Thailand last year, that Stogie also is a big fan of Cohen. So it was cool to share this in common with the venerated leader of The Ladyboy Forums.

Leonard Cohen is an American for a start...

Mirimark, you really need to aquaint yourself with this great Poet/Philosopher/Artist.

He is back on the tour circuit since he was ripped off a lot of money, he performed before 10,000 fans here earlier this year.

Try this one, Suzanne, this clip is years old but it still holds up...
