I didn't take the test, too lazy

But I think I would come down around the same place as Guy did; a bit left of center and down a little.

This coming from a Reagan republican who watched his country go to shit during 8 years of that big-eared puppet from Texas and the bald guy from Wyoming pulling his strings. But ask again in 2 years; the guy in there now ain't doing such a great job either.

              • He's not doing a stellar job but the facts are the facts:

The last 5 times we had republicans in the white house, we had recessions. Case in point:
                W (2001, our ongoing one)
                W's dad (1990-92)
                Reagan (1981-82)
Nixon/ Ford or Agnew if you want to include him (1969-70, 73-75)

People hate carter because he couldn't clean up nixon's mess. People hate clinton because he didn't just clean up the reagan/ bush mess, he also got head in the oval office and got away with it.

After how much pain will we realize, the barry goldwater economics of low taxes for the rich don't work?

P.S. I don't blindly hate republicans.. My favorite president was before my time. He was eisenhower. During his time, taxes on those making over $200,000 was 90%, and under him the middle class flourished, and its from those times, we have "the american dream". Taxes on the middle class were almost non existant, and he used the money to create the interstate system which we still use today. He ended the korean war because he knew as a general, that fight was not winnable. Who better than a general knows what you can and cannot do with your troops?

But basically the republicans don't represent the people. They represent the elite of the elite, the top 1% earners but see they don't want to be seen as the bad guys, they want to be seen as the heroes creating the jobs for the other people, so they use their money and create outlets like the fox news channel, rush limbaugh talk show, and scream slogans that're catchy to make naive people think they're better than they are, that they would be affected by what the rich would be affected by and the best word for it is, the rich fight a political war by proxy of the middle class on their payroll.

Maybe I sound insensitive but its not the case at all. I do care!  But if I had to live my whole life based on how everyone might be sensitive to me.. I would not be living my life as I want it. So you can accept me and my flaws as I am or you can't.

tell that to the Tea Baggers!!

They think the right is for the people.....what a freaking joke.

Trust me Jake, I don't like the repub's either, they suck ass...... I just thought Obama and his crew of  VERY wise men would be doing much better by now; spending a whole year to pass a watered-down health care bill wasn't a great idea and now it looks like his 2nd year will be tied up working on some fucking oil spill in the gulf; certainly not his fault, but happening on his watch... when, exactly, is he going to get to work and fix the mess made by that retarded guy with the big ears??

The good {?} news is that he will have 8 years to do it.....the right has no one to prop up there in 2012 to even come close to challenging him.

Ya' think that asswipe Palin is still shouting "drill baby, drill'' at all her speeches these days??

                  • Well someone needs to have balls to say, you want to stop spending, how about we stop spending giving aid to gaza, israel and all other countries. Every household has to make these choices. If they make $100,000 as a household, they have to make choices and live within their means. They don't spend $3,000,000 and take it out on credit cards or they'd be homeless.

Simplify it so the people understand it rather than talk like a harvard professor. Its kinda like a doctor using big words but what you really need are laymen's terms to understand the problem.

And Palin.. don't even get me started on her. She's the best thing that happened to America. We now have a real reason to not vote for the gop - her.

Try this out JD, you'll like it.. this is what it would look like with her or one of her manchurian candidates in the white house.

                        yes, YES and YES!!!!!!!

Fuck, how about Egypt also?? 90% of the aid going into that rathole comes from US, and for what?? so we can have a presence in Northern Africa where it meets the middle east, despite the fact that the people there don't even like us? How about getting OUT of those 2 stupid shithole countries the last prez got us into and bringing our guys home; how about spending all the money we make on ourselves??

We have enough problems at home and a new health care system {when?} and also have to worry about paying for an older class of baby boomers who will be living longer and getting sicker every year......stop foreign aid and stop the 2 horrible wars we are in; whoever promises that gets MY vote every time.

yes, I agree and I was a Reagan guy, I admit it......he made this country feel good at a time when we really needed it, after Carter and the fiasco in Iran.  He also helped move along the complete destruction of communism after meeting with Gorbachev in Iceland; within 3 years that whole failed system was dead in Europe.

But it wasn't until Clinton came along that our economy got back on track .... he had a ZERO deficit when he left office, and now, 10 years later??  WTF???

Obama should be focusing on the economy, ONLY..... let Bill's skanky wife deal with every other craphole country when she's not ironing his shirts and let Obama and his staff of smart guys fix the mess we are in HERE; he has done nothing in 2 years besides pass a shitty health plan which does nothing for me and people like me, how about helping US now, the people who got him in there?

                          • Poor old Jimmy Carter. Defeated by a sandstorm that grounded several of the choppers he sent in to rescue the hostages held in Tehran.

At least he had the balls to order the attempt. It wasn't his fault they were going to encounter shocking conditions. Surely someone could see the distance was too far?

And now Obama has his own crisis. The oil leaking into the Gulf of Mexico is the worst environmental disaster in history. What luck, eh?

But don't go praising Clinton too much for leaving office with a budget surplus. I thought he had pulled off some sort of economic miracle until I read what really happened.

All he did was call in Alan Greenspan & asked what could be done to turn the economy around. Simple said Alan, let me turn on the money printing press & if we flood the country with cash, it will all flow back into the banking system & the IRS.

Except there was so much money that it went further than that. The big profits made by the private sector & the banks flooded the Stock Market & created the dotcom bubble.

For a while it appeared that the country was going great. Once the dotcom boom colllapsed, the money had to go somewhere. It went towards creating the property bubble.

This was so lucrative for the banks, it gave rise to the toxic subprime debacle. Everyone was guaranteed to get rich by buying property & the whole world queued up to buy AAA rated US mortgage debentures. There was so much demand for this paper that mortgages were being offered to anyone with a pulse.

The banks had to get a bit tricky with the marketing of this stuff given there were so many high risk loans among it. They mixed some good paper with lots of crap & flogged these CDO's around the world.

Here in Australia, we have local councils & shires who have lost their operating capital because they were recommended to buy this stuff. Banks failed all around the world because of it, they still are.

The CDO's can never be unravelled. The good can't be separated from the bad & there is much more pain to come.

The moral of the story is don't let anyone tell you the GFC was caused by Dubya. He didn't help & his folly of going into 2 unwinnable wars was a disaster but Clinton & Greenspan can take a bow for instigating the problem.
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

My version of your statement JS:- But basically the [enter party name here] don't represent the people. They represent themselves, or those who provide them with the greatest personal benefits (cash, presteige, presents, jobs, etc.)
