"Marla." series are mixed media on digital prints.
The photographs are taken by me.

I have gotten mixed reactions to the series- some felt that I shouldn't have painted over the pictures, while some thought the painting gave it more character and for some, whimsical elements.

Nevertheless, "Marla." is a series of emotionally-charged photos of me, coupled with my painting techniques.

If you haven't noticed, I'm not a big fan of taking a picture of myself in the reflection of a mirror!

Im not sure of the exact method used but they are not paintings in the traditional sense . Modern art has many guises these days..

I had the pleasure of seeing some close ups in Pattaya a few weeks ago and some of this work would not be out of place in some high profile Coffee Table Erotica tome that one sees on the arty bookshelves

Marla - a pleasure to meet you and I hope the expo helped get things started.

For those that were not there I would describe the artwork as a:

An erotic Photograph with an addition of personal artistic embellishment.

What I liked about the artwork was:

It was Marla - he model and the artist
It was not obvious that the photo was a LB
It had a surrealistic quality

Art is never constrained by "Norms" - Art can be anything. Art is an expression of a will/force.

Most artists are deceased before someone recognizes their contribution - hopefully not Marla!

What I liked was the sensuous pose without revealing "I am a LB". That is special. I would hang a piece of Marla's work only to express - "Is this erotic or not, by the way it is a LB". Please accept the 3rd Sex as erotic and sensual.

It challenges the "norms" which is what Art is about. You have a beautiful person who is erotic BUT it is a LB. Great bridge between established accepted eroticism and today.

If Marla had got the calendars on sale I would have bought an autographed copy...

Well, I had conflicts with the printers for the calendar at the eleventh hour. I guess the calendar will have to wait- why didn't you buy an autographed painting/print?
