(Otho @ Jul. 19 2008,15:31) But for my one and only moment, I remember brian Moore's TV commentary off by heart...
"Lukic out to Dixon, Dixon to Smith. Arsenal streaming forward now in what will surely be their last attack. Smith through to Thomas....it's up for grabs now....AND THOMAS!!!!!"
Liverpool 0 Arsenal 2. Last minute of the last, championship deciding game of the season.

Seeing Man United win the Premiership was a personal delight for me
However the Botham Ashes and Jonny Wilkinsons last minute drop goal did have the hairs on my neck standing on endYour got yer Mother in a whirl
Shes not sure if your a Boy or a Girl

That was amazing
I remember standing smack bang in the center of the Kop when Thomas scored
it was totally silent except for one fella saying "Oh, feckin'ell".Then the roar from
the Arsenal fans reached us..fantastic! Stayed behind to watch them pick the trophy up
and everyone pouring out the ground were buzzing..

"There are some people on the pitch, they think it's all over.......
Very surprised that nobody mentioned the Lisbon Lions: The greatest performance EVER by a British soccer team, I.E. eleven local born players winning the European Cup for there home town team.
2005 Ashes series was the best ever played in England.
How about the rowing guys ?
And a very personal one: a damp drizzly night on merseyside many many years ago, when I found out what real football fans were all about.
Last one. Brian Johnson trying to control a giggling fit on t.m.s. (and failing wonderfully) after informing the listeners around the globe: "the bowlers holding the batsmans willey"
I hope someone else remembers the moment, it's a classic.
Oh yea Murray Walker, bursting into tears as Damon Hill won world championship.

Kirk Gibsons walk off home run in the 1988 World Series. His only plate appearance as he had injurys in both legs and could barely walk. Stumbled past Lasorda and put himself in as a pinch hitter in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs.

Only in America coud you hold a World Series & have no other country show up ...
and only they could fail to see the irony of it.
IMO the cold war should have been fought out on the sporting field, it would have done so much to bring the countries closer together.Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

My thoughts exactly dave and pacman, that was before i scrolled down to your posts!
Prehaps the irish could have a world series gaelic football, and the aussies a world series aussie rules football?
And don't even start me on why they are the only country to call football, soccer!i'm going where the sun keeps shining.................

Mark Spitz winning 7 gold medals swimming at the 1972 Olympics.
Richmond F.C. winning the 1973-74 VFL Grand Finals.
Michael Schumacher winning all those F1 races for Ferrari.
Watching those guys on the giant ski jumps during the Winter Olympics, closley followed by the bob sledders.
Watching those old Soviet Era Russian and Bulgarian weight lifters during the 70-80's Olympics.
Watching Michael Johnson running in the 200 & 400 meter 1996 Olympics for 2 gold medals, along with the rest of his incredible career.
Carl Lewis equaling Jesse Owens 1936 Berlin Olympics record of 4 gold medals in 1984.He ended with 9 Olympic gold and 8 world championship gold medals.
