  • Greatest sporting moments in history...

What sporting moments will always stick in your mind. ?.

For me, this from the Olympics in 1992..
    Derek Redmonds 400 mtr final..

But most memorable for me,was this... Marko Tardelli's face
after scoring in the '82 World Cup Final..
Fantastic..Showed exactly what that meant to him!!

I,just once in my life, would love to feel like that...

I once witnessed a guy dancing on the table of my local do a back flip , land on his feet ,and still not spill a drop of his vodka .

One of the great athletic moments of our time , grown men were seen to weep at the beauty of it all

Yeah, that was great. I was over in Ireland at the time and watched it in a bar in Booterstown. The place went mental.

But for my one and only moment, I remember brian Moore's TV commentary off by heart...

"Lukic out to Dixon, Dixon to Smith. Arsenal streaming forward now in what will surely be their last attack. Smith through to Thomas....it's up for grabs now....AND THOMAS!!!!!"

Liverpool 0 Arsenal 2. Last minute of the last, championship deciding game of the season. I'm getting goosebumps even as I write it.

Sorry, I stopped to answer the phone while I was writing that reply. I was actually referring to Steve Collins, not the bloke doing the backflip - although that would have probably got them going too!

I think maybe only older Canadians would appreciate this: the 1972 Canada:USSR summit series. First time in ages they had played each other. Canadians felt it was going to be a piece of cake, but horrors when the Russians turned out to be good. Canada won the series in game 8 with a last minute goal. A tie wouldn't have done as the Russians would have had the series in goals for/against. They even let us out of class to watch this last game - everyone gathered in the gym, including all the teachers, principal, janitor, on a black and white TV. Never heard such cheering when the goal was scored!

Ian Botham at Headingley during the 1981 Ashes series.

On a personal note me playing at Old Trafford cricket ground for Lancashire schoolboys.
