Fair enough... I know many people with theater rooms in their houses and it's cost them a fortune and it's certainly very impressive, but their idea of a 'good movie' is probably Van Helsing!

I've got a nice big telly myself and a huge room with a super sound system, but I rarely even go in there. I prefer to watch stuff on my computer.

Give me any single 22 minute episode of The Simpsons compressed to under 100 megs over anything churned out by Hollypyook over the last 20 years on a Blue ray.

22 min, cartoon under 100 mb...

100 mb for a cartoon like simpsons is too much, you can easily get it down to 70mb even 60mb... depends how much time you're willing to afford compressing it. Set the key frames yourself, manually reduce to bit rate on certain parts, etc...

Cartoon: rmvb or wmv; xvid, divx, mp4 end up with a shitty result most of the time.

Managed to push a "Boston Legal Episode" down to 250 mb and you could barely see the difference to the dvd. mkv rocks! Well, don't wanna talk about how much time it took...

A Sledge Hammer episode easily be coded down to 100 mb (ok, the source material on the german DVD sucks ass) without any difference to the DVD.

Just an example: http://realitylapse.com/downloads/vi...th-note01.rmvb (<- illegal to download ): rmvb, 73,9mb, 22.54 min, looks ok.

For the lazy fucks: Nero Recode is quite ok for mp4 compression...
