I just finished reading Peter Fonda's autobiography (I was a big Easy Rider fan in the late 60's). Reading Cussler's Inca Gold now. I used to read a lot of fiction but for some reason I have been on a non-fiction kick for a while now. If you like audio books, I recommend Hearts in Atlantis by Stephen King read by William Hurt. And avoid the movie. It really sucked.

Just bought- A day at el bulli, although not much to read as mostly photographs it was a must have!

Have you been watching Red Dwarf Jim?

Just finished reading Marching Powder by Rusty Young. It's the story of Thomas McFadden, a British drug smuggler who was arrested and sent to San Pedro prison in Bolivia. Life inside the prison is pretty amazing - it has it's own economy where you have to buy your own room, there are shops and wives and children live with the inmates. Also the best cocaine in Bolivia is manufactured inside, it was ironic that McFadden hadn't taken cocaine until he went to prison. McFadden ends up giving tours of the prison to foreign tourist for extra money. The book was reccomended to me by a few people who I met when I was travelling in Peru earlier this year and I have finally got around to reading . It was an easy and enjoyable read.

I've now started reading Carl Sagan's The Demon Haunted World.

I just read Toni Morrison's "Beloved".
It's a multi-layered story of an escaped slave who kills her own daughter rather than allowing her to be captured and returned to slavery. It's told in flashbacks and form the multiple points of view of the people who were slaves.
This is some deep, affecting stuff, my brothers; highly recommened.

If not, I certainly read a book about a guy in a South American prison with it's own little economy etc as you have described .... must be the same book
