Eric Bana was very good in Chopper. Is it just me or do ladyboys have bad taste in movies?

My pick would go something like this.

    1. Heat

    2. Shawshank Redemption

    3. The Pianist

    4. Munich

    5. Platoon

    6. The good the bad and the ugly

    7. Casino

    8. Saving Private Ryan

    9. Goodfellas

    10. The Great Escape

              (f0xxee @ Nov. 07 2009,17:02) I'll have a go:

              1. Cool Hand Luke

              2. The Castle. (Best Aussie Movie. Ever. Ever.)

              3. Deliverence. (Haven't eaten pork since)

              4. The Crying Game. (gave me a woody)

              5. Chopper (Eric Bana as Aussies most notorious crim.)

              6. Meet the Fockers

              7. Something About Mary

              8. Pulp Fiction

              9. Resevoir Dogs (How the FUCK do you spell Resovoir?)

              10. Romper Stomper (Russell Crowe when he was an unknown as a violent skin-head)
You spell it "Reservoir". You gotta get the 'reserv' in the front, just think of it as place where water is held in reserve. then all ya need to do is remember the 'o' comes before the 'i'. I've kept up on the spelling because I rate that movie very highly too. The best edition IMO is the 10th Anniversary Edition.

As for The Castle, I'll look for it based on your recommendation. Of what I've seen so far, my favorite Aussie movies were Breaker Morant and The Sum of Us. Breaker Morant I especially liked, even though after reading Kip Denton's book about him, I realize the movie wasn't completely historically accurate.

One thing I've never been able to do is include comedies in my Top 10. I make a Top 10 list, then a Top 10 Comedies list.

                    • (seanbeag7 @ Mar. 31 2008,20:02) I have just been reading Empire's top 1000 films, and i was able to agree on about 800 of them, so let me start:
                      1/ Godfather
                      2/ Casino
                      3/ Goodfellas
4/ One flew over the cuckoo's nest
                      5/ Silence of the lambs
                      6/ Psycho
                      7/ Reservour Dogs
                      8/ Babbel
                      9/ The lives of others
                      10/ Belle de Jour
seems to be a common thread running through your choices SEAN

                        • I guess the films I watch over & over are, or really stuck with me are, in no particular order:

                          Aguirre, Wrath of God

                          The Searchers

                          Pulp Fiction

                          Blood Simple

8 1/2 (in a rotation of Fellini films)

Vertigo (in a rotation of Hitchcock)

                          5 Easy Pieces

                          The Last Waltz

                          Morgan!

Some Like it Hot (in a Billy Wilder rotation)

                          2001 (really any Kubrick movie)

Just to add I will watch & enjoy any film by Preston Sturges, any documentary by Werner Herzog, any Busby Berkley or Fred Astaire film. (Am I gay?)

                          • I was thinking about "Some Like it Hot" & thought I would list my favorite transgender oriented non-porn films of all time:

Some Like it Hot .... of course

                            The Crying Game

                            Different for Girls

The Queen ..... impossibly obscure doc from 40 years ago

                            Tootsie

                            Princessa

                            Satyricon

                            Glen or Glenda

                            M Butterfly

                            Trash

And of course the British doc "Ladyboys" that was done in the 90's, I should dig that out again.

                            • My current list goes something like this

Apocalypse Now - still the best movie ever made.

Any movie directed by Sam Peckinpah

Any movie written or directed by Quentin Tarantino

                              The Crying Game

                              Leon (The Professional)

                              Unforgiven

                              The Outlaw Josey Wales

                              Kelly's Heroes

                              Gran Torino

                              Breaker Morant

                              The Quiet American (2002 version)

                              Sling Blade
