Memoirs is OK.... but I would wait to see it if you've read the book. Wait until you pretty much have forgotten the book. If you're not thinking about the book, you'll do OK. I made the mistake if seeing Lord of the Rings right after reading the trilogy and it made me miserable.

The only movie I ever saw that I think actually improved upon the book was The Hunt For Red October. I love Tom Clancy and read all his Jack Ryan books, but in that movie they tightened the action and improved the ending.

And given that we have lately remade Japanese and Korean movies (The Ring, The Grudge), rather than import them.

I've seen both the remake of the Grudge and the original Japanese version Ju-on (the grudge) and found the Japanese version Ju-on to be so much better.
