You would need to first install an encrypted virtual drive on your PC. When you mount virtual drive it would show up as a real drive on your PC but everything in it is encrypted without the password. Install a Firefox browser in this drive and only use it.. don't use IE since it's part of the OS.

You would then use a VPN with cryptographic tunneling protocols from your PC to the VPN server in the USA bypassing the local ISP from any snooping and packet sniffing.

Using a Proxy in this case will not help... proxies only change your IP to the website you're connecting too. the local ISP can still see everything you're doing. VPN is the only way around that.

This is what I do, not for the faint of heart
1) Run a proxy server in USA (or elsewhere).
- Configure to allow connections only from localhost.
- Have proxy server on port AAAAA
2) have a local linux box [1]
- establish a SSH Tunnel to the USA. so local port BBBB tunnels to port AAAA on USA server
3) configure your local machine(s) to use a proxy server on the local linux box at port BBBBB

By doing it this way you hide the fact thats its http/proxy server, and you can support multiple local machines.


[1] For windows putty or cygwin might be able to do this, but I never tried.

I do understand every thing you mentioned in your post. After taking care of everyone else (and everyone taking what you had) you must now do something great for yourself.

One thing I might mention is that while you are piling up the cash, do buy some property in Thailand now and make payments on it. Real Estate will just go up in the future so try to lock in something now.

Have you set up a Swiss bank account? Would be a good thing to have so that you keep it all safe with direct deposit and have it managed in safe but growth investments. And keep the ex-family away from it all.

Actually I gave my ex a signed checkbook and an allowance for her and the kids. I'm very hands on and involved with my critters, and as they come to me for everything, she's now got her hands full. Thanks Suki; been looking around on my past few visits. Like the beachfront, and I have to check around the Southern coast some more next time. Pi beaches are a lot nicer and cheaper, but the country on a whole is more difficult to travel in. +'s and -'s in either location, but I'll make it work.
