How the hell is anyone going to know what is going on unless some independent group does some research. Nobody is going to believe any one report or any small group of indiviuals or Countries so the IPCC is at least a move to look at the situation from a neutral viewpoint. What are we to do ,nothing!. The IPCC is not perfect but what other way is there?
IPCC2007 report
many from the pro warming side have also had their evidence rejected. the British Antartic Survey and the Exeter group are two example amongst many.
2007
As far as the Ice sheets are concerned it is being studied now by a UK Navy sub . two guys were killed on the sub last week under the ice sheets when an explosion happened. They claim the ice is receding and will publish the report soon.
Also they will start with 3D mapping technology pretty soon and this will be cleard up for good.

British Television Film "The Great Global Warming Swindle" challenged by crybabies...
Bob Ward, the former spokesman for the Royal Society, Britain's academy of science, and one of the letter's signatories, said director Mark Durkin made a "long catalog of fundamental and profound mistakes" -- including the claim that volcanoes produce more carbon dioxide than humans, and that the Earth's atmosphere was warmer during the Middle Ages than it is today.
"Free speech does not extend to misleading the public by making factually inaccurate statements," he said. "Somebody has to stand up for the public interest here."
Durkin called the letter "loathsome."
"This is a contemptible, weasel-worded attempt to gag scientific criticism, and it won't work," he said. "I don't believe they're interested in quality control when it comes to the reporting of science -- so long as it's on their side."

I thought thread this was on death row....
The issue with Documentaries of any description on any topic either pro or against is that they are not the font of all knowledge . One guy producing a hour long film with emotional music, special effects and his own spin on a subject does not make it credible...
Glogal warming is incredibly complex and thats why they use groups of 1000s rather than tens or100s of people to investigate it.
Durkin was on the radio/TV the other week and it ended up in a big swearing match with Durkin telling Simon Singh to go fuck himself..

Kinda sorta off and on topic TC...but it might help get some of these posters off your ass for a few minutes...
In any event, it's very funny...at least to my warped sense of humor...

Irrational debate about "plant food"
Global warming debate 'irrational': scientists
Carleton University science professor Tim Patterson said global warming will not bring about the downfall of life on the planet.
Patterson said much of the up-to-date research indicates that "changes in the brightness of the sun" are almost certainly the primary cause of the warming trend since the end of the "Little Ice Age" in the late 19th century. Human emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), the gas of concern in most plans to curb climate change, appear to have little effect on global climate, he said.
"I think the proof in the pudding, based on what (media and governments) are saying, (is) we're about three quarters of the way (to disaster) with the doubling of CO2 in the atmosphere," said Patterson. "The world should be heating up like crazy by now, and it's not. The temperatures match very closely with the solar cycles."
Patterson explained CO2 is not a pollutant, but an essential plant food.
Billions of taxpayers' dollars are spent to control the emissions of this benign gas, in the mistaken belief that they can stop climate change, he said.
"The only constant about climate is change," said Patterson.
Patterson said money could be better spent on places like Africa.
"All the money wasted on Kyoto in a year could provide clean drinking water for Africa," said Patterson.

I agree about Gore, hes on the bandwagon thats for sure. I wish i was a dollar behind him in the bank.
Whatever ones view on this is the fact of the matter is that nothing will ever be done about it, where it matters... of that you can be sure...
At the rate that we are gobbling up resources i doubt if the world be able to sustain a population of 10 Billion thats forecast. Another 4 billion people living on a dollar a day probably....
If you think that the people in high places arent worried then consider the fact there are now two Doomvaults being constructed in a secret locations near the arctic circle ... whos got the keys i wonder... not me and you thats for sure. ( Doomvaults hold every single strain of grain and seed and all the other crap thats needed to re- genesis the planet plus living quarters for the selected few in the worst case scenario, whatever that may be?)
Someone cracked a joke about this recently and told a senior UN official "hey, remember to leave the key under the mat...."
as ever...
pessemistically yours

For the morons who believe this rubbish please look outside and stop crying wolf. The hysteria is particularly outrageous in Europe. These fear-mongerers need to get a life and stop being mindless sheep for that fat-ass loser Gore.
Snip below (Link):
"Latin Americans weren't the only ones shivering.
University of Oklahoma geophysicist David Deming, a specialist in temperature and heat flow, notes in the Washington Times that "unexpected bitter cold swept the entire Southern Hemisphere in 2007." Johannesburg experienced its first significant snowfall in a quarter-century. Australia had its coldest ever June. New Zealand's vineyards lost much of their 2007 harvest when spring temperatures dropped to record lows.
Closer to home, 44.5 inches of snow fell in New Hampshire last month, breaking the previous record of 43 inches, set in 1876. And the Canadian government is forecasting the coldest winter in 15 years.
Now all of these may be short-lived weather anomalies, mere blips in the path of the global climatic warming that Al Gore and a host of alarmists proclaim the deadliest threat we face. But what if the frigid conditions that have caused so much distress in recent months signal an impending era of global cooling?
"Stock up on fur coats and felt boots!" advises Oleg Sorokhtin, a fellow of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences and senior scientist at Moscow's Shirshov Institute of Oceanography. "The latest data . . . say that earth has passed the peak of its warmer period, and a fairly cold spell will set in quite soon, by 2012."
Sorokhtin dismisses the conventional global warming theory that greenhouse gases, especially human-emitted carbon dioxide, is causing the earth to grow hotter. Like a number of other scientists, he points to solar activity - sunspots and solar flares, which wax and wane over time - as having the greatest effect on climate.
"Carbon dioxide is not to blame for global climate change," Sorokhtin writes in an essay for Novosti. "Solar activity is many times more powerful than the energy produced by the whole of humankind." In a recent paper for the Danish National Space Center, physicists Henrik Svensmark and Eigil Friis-Christensen concur: "The sun . . . appears to be the main forcing agent in global climate change," they write.
Given the number of worldwide cold events, it is no surprise that 2007 didn't turn out to be the warmest ever. In fact, 2007's global temperature was essentially the same as that in 2006 - and 2005, and 2004, and every year back to 2001. The record set in 1998 has not been surpassed. For nearly a decade now, there has been no global warming. Even though atmospheric carbon dioxide continues to accumulate - it's up about 4 percent since 1998 - the global mean temperature has remained flat. That raises some obvious questions about the theory that CO2 is the cause of climate change.
Yet so relentlessly has the alarmist scenario been hyped, and so disdainfully have dissenting views been dismissed, that millions of people assume Gore must be right when he insists: 'The debate in the scientific community is over.'"

Global warming is very real, sir. You just don't care because it won't drastically change within the rest of your lifespan to the point that you will be directly confronted by it. That's all that matters, right?
I guess the idea of caring about anything but your dick, is difficult for you to comprehend...but some people actually do.
